Re: Face Coverings now Compulsory

I made my own face masks. I can confirm if that you want to wear a mask and keep people at a distance, buy or make a fabric mask with bees on it, I think they look nice but there seems to to be something about someone having bees crawling over their mouth and nose that makes people stay away. I shou...

Re: Lockdown Nostalgia

My son has been enjoying cycling with us during the lockdown yesterday. Yesterday we went for a cycle during which most car drivers behaved well except one who played the numbers game and overtook on a corner. Then when we were on a 'main' road just crossing a junction with a minor road (which is cl...

Re: A pain in the balls of my feet (both)

I've had Morton's Neuroma. I got it a number of years ago, my foot looked normal, then usually if I got too hot it went into a full attack and I had to try and cool my foot as rapidly as possible. In the middle of an attack, it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced (and I've had 2 babie...

Re: Best electrolyte tablets?

Wiggle own brand, taste okay, cheap, do the job. I've take them regularly in the summer when running for the last few years and they are great. If you want to posh them up, the lemon one in cold ginger tea (as in tea made from dried ginger) is good.

Re: Which is it most important to reopen asap? Pubs or Schools

If you get schools back you get people working as children are occupied (and working), so schools first. And my other half is a teacher (but we don't go back until August anyhow). People can drink anywhere, I suppose children can theoretically learn anywhere but they're young so they don't.

Re: Bike sales

In my area (I'm in Scotland) many people seem to have taken you 'can' have one hour's exercise per day to mean you 'must' exercise for one hour per day. So we've had all sorts of older people out jogging and walking, chatting to people (in a socially distanced way), and today on a cycle path I had a...

Re: Healthy food/snacks suggestions

I'm a runner who cycles, I usually can't eat before I run otherwise I feel sick. Trek peanut power, only bars I can eat before or during (running, I don't tend to cycle enough to need refueling) without being sick. I read a paper on exercise and eating It had studied a group of runners and had trie...

Re: How to increase my confidence and/or change bicycle ?

Get the bike checked, TOH put son's bike together and it was never right (jittery), though TOH said it was fine, until I insisted it went to a bike shop. He'd put it together the wrong way, now son uses it all the time and it's fine. Mind you I should never have let him near it (past form as a bodge...

Re: Bike shops open?

I live out in the countryside. Giro Fixture XL 2019 Helmet for son (big deep helmet), ordered it from Winstanleys, it took 7 days from ordering at the start of April (and most of that was RM), but it was a good fit.

Re: Book Suggestions

As I didn't get any replies, I had a look at books and maps. I am a different kind of person from my sister so I tried to choose for her and not for me. I know they like France and I think she's kind of a route person (she's done long distance walking routes), and while they used to cycle allot, the...

Re: Can anyone help with insurance please

I am attempting to sort out bike insurance for my husbands newish bike. He has an electric bike and I cannot put it on the home insurance or use motor insurance companies. I started to go through a form with cycleguard and checked reviews before finalising which were not particularly favourable, st...

Re: Bird Attack

Geese once on a cycle way in Germany, TOH went through them first and it took a little longer for me to get up the courage to, as he never fails to remind me whenever the subject of geese comes up.
And also a pheasant once when out running, it just wouldn't go away and they can run quite fast.

Re: Speeding motorists

What really annoys me, people who speed into our town past the 30 mph signs, speed down my street (which is also on a national cycle route) to 'their' street, where 'they' now have had 20 mph signs to keep 'their' children safe, and then they slow down....
