Re: Allow slowing down signal with either arm?

I used a hand signal to slow down the other day and a driver behind me hurled abuse at me and repeatedly honked their horn because they didn't recognise it.

Just starting out

Hi all. I'm just getting into cycle touring/camping. I've car camped with the family in the past so all my existing kit has tended to be in the 'weight no object' category , so cooking equipment has just been typical kitchen stuff brought along from home. Any hints and tips about cooking kit would b...

Re: Cycling into the River/Canal

A friend of mine used to be a policeman and rode a police motor bike. He still gets jibes 20 years down the line about riding it into the local canal :-)

Re: LLC and Wales Questions

It's out of the way a bit but Cheshire Oaks cycles near Ellesmere Port is a decent shout.

Re: Alternative to 'V' brakes

I've found Koolstop to be a good compromise of performance vs price. I think they do different colours which determine the compound.

Re: LLC and Wales Questions

Fingers crossed indeed. Having trouble deciphering where this Peninne Trail is? Its not clear to me on the OSM map. Nothing quite near the airport that doesn't do a circular loop. The hard part will be getting back to Manchest from Cardiff/Chepstow. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1420884392.328933.jpg From...

Re: Interesting analysis of the stresses on a wheel

Wheels. My favourite debate. Imagine if you will, a fly jammed in between the tread of the tyre on one of your bike wheels. You are riding along at, say, 20 mph. In the course of one revolution of the wheel as you are riding, that fly, starting at the bottom of the wheel will be stationary, then ac...

Re: LLC and Wales Questions

If you fly into Manchester then the train from Manchester airport to Chester is about 1.5 hrs. About £20 one way.
If you have a spare day, you could always cycle from the airport to Chester via the trans Pennine trail.

Re: Salsa Vaya 3 vs Spa Audax vs Equilibrium

Like Reohn2, I am on Vaya no2, and love them (though my no1 is essentially trashed- my fault  ), but as Brucey says, it seems you're comparing different things- usually between Salsa and Genesis, it would be the Croix de Fer (which I think is quite ugly, sorry folk) that is compared to the Va...

Re: TOURING 2015

I'm hoping to do the LLC (albeit starting in Chester) in July/August. If I can't work out the finances for that (I'm in the USA) then I'll stay local and bust my lungs doing a Colorado Loop with something over 14,000 ft of climbing over 9-days. I plan to do something similar at Easter, weather perm...

I quite like the Vango Blade 200 instead of the banshee though, albeit I don't own either.

Apparently the vango banshee 200 is 'Designed for anyone who requires a banshee 200 tent' :-)

Thanks, I hadn't realised spa did brooks too. I'll pop down with the bike and check them out.

Re: Saddle replacement - Brooks

I had considered the spa saddles but bike-discount.de have the Brooks saddles at a good price so I was leaning towards the brooks, but for the potential that it might not go back enough for me. I'll probably nip over to spa to check them out.

Saddle replacement - Brooks

Hi. I'm looking to replace my existing charge spoon saddle on my new Croix de Fer with a Brooks. Do Brooks saddles have a good range of fore/aft adjustment ? I seem to recollect a while ago reading complaints that they don't go back far enough. I've currently got a 25mm offset seatpost. Have any of ...
