Re: If I was on the wrong bike today...

I don't wish to go out to try testing the theory, but the melting point of ice goes up when under pressure - Pressure Melting Point, so a narrow tyre which exerts more pressure on the ice, is more likely to cause the top layer to melt to water, making it slippier and also has less surface area on th...

Re: Taking the pooh???

Can't remember when, if ever, I've seen a line of cars stuck behind a pedestrian meandering down the middle of the road.

Re: Taking the pooh???

When we drive, we expect pedestrians to stay on the pavement, I know they sometimes step out into the road but not often, I don't see why, on shared use paths with clearly marked lanes, pedestrians can't be expected to stay in their own lane, people don't meander down roads stepping constantly in fr...

Re: Taking the pooh???

It would only cost him £125.00 to get her back, £25.00 of which she has already contributed.

Editing to add

Re: Total Ascent

I suppose it may be more accurate, recording every tiny undulation, or may just be wrong.
You'll have to calibrate it by going to the alps and finding the longest continuous climb you can.

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

Maybe it could be graded so the kids who need a longer walk have to park further away.

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

Yes but cars are freestanding and easily lockable and the parents are already parking by the roadside to unload their children. I don't know how much planning goes into traffic and school run drop offs when they design new schools. My sister went on holiday to the USA and arranged for her boys to ex...

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

I think the problem here is there isn't another convenient/safe place to unload the child from the bike. I think it's bad that there isn't any facilities for children to cycle to school and also that it would be good if schools were also encouraged to make cycling to school more convenient for paren...

Re: Do you drive as well as cycle?

Somehow my tired head read the heading as 'Do you drive as well as you cycle?' I have been thinking when people ask when critical point is going to have an effect in reducing accidents, part of me thinks maybe non-cyclists won't get any better but all the people new to cycling will drive better beca...

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

I almost think there should be a school run exclusion zone around schools, so that people have to get out and walk some of the way, hopefully this would spread out the traffic as people would have options rather than all trying to park next to one gate.

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

Argue that your health must also be taken into consideration, if there's nowhere safe outside of school to dismount then you'll have to start driving, which has no health benefit, the lost exercise equates to putting on around 4.5 lbs per year for every kilometre away from school you are, for the re...

Re: banned with my bike from daughter's school

Just once, remove the pedals and or just the chain when outside the school, then scoot onto the school grounds as scooters are permitted. Or add a stabilizer to make it a trike.

Next time I hit someone in my car I'll just say I did it by accident and everything will be ok.

Re: Level crossing RLJ

Trains tend to follow them metal bits on the ground, cars can swerve all over the place.
