Re: 2019 Tour de France: Spoilers!

Isn't this what Steve Cummings does? Takes it less hard for a couple of weeks so he's no threat on GC and fresher to get in a breakaway later in the race?

Re: The joys of being a PoB

I am glad the older gentleman who breezed past me up a hill once told me he was on an e-bike, although I may have noticed myself. I wonder if these roadies suspect you of the same.

Re: The joys of being a PoB

Sounds a fun hobby, see how many you can hook in, maybe work on your outfit some more, maybe carry an empty can of Stella? Untrue your wheel so it gives a tiny squeak each revolution.

Re: 2019 Tour de France

A couple of interviews in the ITV coverage today during the race coverage, from 61.4 km to go if you're watching the full coverage. Starting with an interview with Doug Ryder, Team Principal of Dimension Data, who said it was a performance team decision, based on the difficulty of the route, the who...

Re: 2011 Vuelta result revision

The thing is, had he won the Vuelta in 2011, maybe he would have been the lead rider in 2012, the general public don't know Froome as much as Wiggins, possibly down to this, or possibly because Wiggins was already on the radar from the Olympics, then had that magic year in 2012 when he won the Tour,...

Re: OVO race - road defect causes crash

I watched the coverage a few times and couldn't see the bike actually hit the pothole, but assuming it did, it looked to me like the rider lost grip of the bars and fell forwards, didn't notice anything wrong with the bike but didn't actually look. It's easy to be caught out by a bump you aren't exp...

Re: Geraint Thomas taken to hospital

Looking at the luck other grand tour contenders have, it's an achievement that Lance Armstrong finished 7 Tours de France in a row, maybe there was less pressure in the race due to the cheating, but it still only takes one little mistake. Chris Froome didn't last long in 2014 after a few crashes and...

Re: Bike City Index, Utrecht three times more deadly than Bristol for cyclists

There are a lot of variables that would alter the scores, maybe it's down to how many people wear h....... Distance travelled, number of journeys, etc etc along with how they have sourced the data, unless they independently source it themselves in all of the different cities it can't be very meaning...

Think I've got the cards in the garage somewhere, from 2002, think I might have 2 or 3 answers, I need to get out more.

Re: dozey pedestrians

Put yourself in their shoes, they are walking down a quiet, single track road, side by side, the guy is probably somewhere near the middle of the lane, think what a shock it would be if a cyclist suddenly passes his right hand side, in the narrow space between him and the verge, at 15mph.

Badger attack!? Or other weighty animal, seems unlikely you wouldn't see it though but perhaps not impossible.

Re: Wedding presents

Wedding lists can be useful if you have a large wedding with lots of guests from two large families who don't know each other, it helps to ensure you don't get 15 toasters and stops everyone asking individually what you would like, you pre-empt their questions by making the list, then you can direct...

Re: E-scooters

I'm not sure I've seen many, maybe a kid on one in the park, what I have seen more of is what appear to be illegal e-bikes, the problem is, how do you distinguish the legal ones from the illegal ones, then how do you distinguish the e-bikes from the bikes? If e-bikes or e-scooters start becoming a p...

No, it wasn't me. As I've said many times on this very thread, and which you appear to have not bothered reading, I had no issue with baker's tweet and could understand what the original intent of the tweet was . Excellent! So we can move on then. Glad to hear it old chap. Except the above quote in...
