I guess the garage is the best place for hub failures.

Re: Finger Nails

Did you cook something that left a particularly pungent and unpleasant smell on your hands? Or maybe a dirty job involving getting dirty hands that put you off, maybe without realising?

Re: The optomechanical Kerker effect info

Interesting research, though I would assumed the back row would be worse than the row ahead of it, as the lead rider has less air resistance as someone is behind them. Also, it goes into the detail of how they've done the research, would it not be easier just to use an actual peleton and power meter...

Re: Total Mass For UCI Races.

I think in horse racing the handicap weight is related to form, to try and level the playing field, rather than total weight. Having a total weight in cycling surely would just mean all the riders would aim to be that target weight, more muscle to power that weight uphill, it would mean the lighter ...

Re: hour record.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/47378748 Bump - has no one tried for the record recently? Sir Bradley Wiggins' one-hour world record will be challenged by Belgium's Victor Campenaerts on 16 or 17 April. Briton Wiggins set the mark at 54.526km in London on 7 June, 2015. Campenaerts, 27, will make...

Re: Carrying a child's bike

Ride it, knees out, heels on pedals. Or maybe strap it onto the back of a padded, filled rucksack, which would hopefully carry it comfortably without knocking into you.

Re: London cycle parking security

It doesn't take 2 hours to look through 2 hours of footage though does it, it should be able to be done in under 10 minutes. I also would have thought that the people who actually get the job of looking for the footage aren't officers but are the CCTV operators. Write to Cressida Dick, Commissioner ...

Re: Triathlete hits horse on road. Shameful!

Seems very unlikely someone would plan on something happening to get some attention, when that something might be falling off a horse and dying. More likely she was either unaware of the event, assumed cyclists would respect other road users, or had no easy alternative route.

Stumbled across this whilst searching for something completely unrelated but it rang a bell. https://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/video/windsor/140769/cyclist-who-rode-into-horse-at-windsor-triathlon-convicted.html A cyclist who rode into a horse during the Royal Windsor Triathlon has been convic...

Re: Post accident car insurance premiums

I often wonder whether the statistics really just show that the honest people who report all accidents and turn down the offers from other drivers to avoid using their insurance companies are the ones more likely to report any accidents they have when they are at fault. There's no requirement to us...

Horizontal fence post, wrapped with barbed wire?

Vertical fence post with dangling wrecking ball, or something that looks like one?
