I was wondering if there were some badly behaved cyclists on the same routes as the OP making the local pedestrians more anti-cyclist.

Re: What's wrong with just a mirror?

Different bikes and different riders will have different characteristics, maybe just different tyres and tyre pressures will produce vastly different vibrations in the handlebars and mirrors. I've always found cycle mirrors vibrate a lot and maybe as I ride in different positions, the mirror isn't a...

Re: Twice Drunk Driver Escapes Jail And Keeps Job

I'd rather she opted to give up driving rather than drinking. What if she opted to give up drinking and is a competent driver and a very good doctor without the drink? She could do both but if she has a problem with drink, she may fall off the wagon so to speak, which is easily done, alcohol is eve...

Re: How would you make up for shortfalls in engineers, doctors etc?

UK tuition fees don't cost the student til after they have graduated though, then only if they are earning over £25,000 and in most cases graduates will not repay the full amount of their fees. The language used around the subject and the coverage in the press isn't helping, there's no need saying s...

Re: Cyclists ignoring traffic lights

It wouldn't surprise me if in most collisions between a car and a pedestrian there is only soft tissue damage. Probably a lack of statistics to prove this either way though.

Re: How would you make up for shortfalls in engineers, doctors etc?

I would do the same as the OP, make degrees in jobs we want more of cheaper, for things like doctors, where graduates often work for the NHS, perhaps their loan could be reduced every year they stay in the NHS. The government messed up when they increased tuition fees, there should be some body sett...

Re: Are you a lottery dupe?

It's a tax on hope though, people know the chances of winning are very very slim but someone wins, you've got to be in it to win it and it's nice to dream about and 'plan' what you would do if you did win. Putting the money into a savings account is more useful for most people but a lot of people wo...

I want to play name those films now but have no idea and they could be really obscure films no one has heard of. In Speed, Keanu Reeves doors the bus.

And remember to turn your lights on earlier, took my yellow lenses off, maybe the first time I wore them and realised it was actually surprisingly dark.

Including a half allegation that the Ordnance Survey discovered that the AA were copying their maps due to 'Mountweazels' though they claim it was just down to styling.

Re: Jailed Driver Pushes Cyclist Under Car

Woefully short sentence. I think you could have written more, definitely. I started to then deleted it as I could go on and on. If someone pushed a pedestrian in front of a car, or someone off a train platform resulting in severe injuries, I think they would get a longer sentence and possibly be ch...

Re: what are the headphones which drown traffic noise?

There are bone conduction headphones now too, that leave the ears free of obstruction. I find wind noise cuts out pretty much any outside noise when I'm cycling so can't hear much anyway. I don't know if I somehow get more wind noise than normal, my ears stick out a bit, helmet straps and sunglasses...
