Re: Is Trump Mad?

... the notion that tyranny can be overthrown at the ballot box is as much of a myth as US democracy. The Chilean wing of my family are enjoying the moment. Jonathan Well that's nice, but I think the US also needs a new constitution - their existing one's a bit wonky, even though that handmaiden th...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

any one like to guess what his departure speech will be? Probably a call to arms if that hasn't happened already, in which case he'll just stir it up even worse. I don't think he has it in him to make a dignified exit - he will be dragged away, screaming and frothing, by men in white coats! And The...

Re: Giro d'Italia

I remember Stephen Roche - as a Eurosport commentator before Sean Kelly - saying it was a better idea to put a racing cape on back-to-front as it was easier to get on and protected the chest without fastening up, but I've never seen anybody do it that way I mis-read that the first time as 'racing c...

Re: Giro d'Italia

A velcro front full length jacket is harder to do up than a zip. It didn't go unnoticed (by me at least)that both INEOS riders found it easy to ride no hands and zip up their jackets than either Sunweb rider, better bike steering geometry or better easier zips perhaps? Maybe one of the small detail...

Re: Giro d'Italia

Never having been very good at riding 'no hands' I was wincing when they were trying to put their jackets on before the descent after the Stelvio - took one or two of them far too long and the others could have attacked while they were preoccupied, or they could even have fallen. Makes you think the...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

Will there be tanks on the White House lawn? Well, there's a racoon - this is quite funny - happened a couple of weeks ago. You have to click on 'View' in the tweet to see it and enable the sound (includes very, very mild but excusable cussing)... 'Little America' narrator: "Meanwhile, in the ...

Don McLean wrote and sang 'American Pie', a long complicated song with lots of words 'Please, what does the song MEAN?', earnest journalists used to ask him 'It means that I never have to work again', he chortled I went to see Steve Harley (Cockney Rebel) at the Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow years ago a...

Re: Giro d'Italia

All riders and staff at the Giro were tested for coronavirus on Sunday and Monday. A total of 571 tests were conducted. Sadly, Mitchelton-Scott and Jumbo-Visma have now withdrawn from the Giro after positive tests. Sunweb will continue for now although one of their riders, Michael Matthews, tested p...

Thanks. Makes you think. Probably has a financial interest or connections with the company. While he might be shrewd enough to add up a bunch profits and end up with a tax loss, he's never really seemed quite up to joined up thinking. Re: Cyclists on the road with two bikes, up to no good?

And to get this back on topic, does adapting a bike to tow another imply that the rider is up to no good? Plod walks to rear of bike, hands behind back, points to axle attachment on rear rack and says, "Allo allo allo, wot's this 'ere then?" :D I don't know, though - it would just be too ...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't one of Trump's drugs (Regeneron?) made from stem cells? So presumably the religious right will now have to vote against him. Regeneron is the name of a pharmaceutical company not a drug. Presumably he was given something made by them. Here you go: The emergency an...

Re: Cyclists on the road with two bikes, up to no good?

This is how you do it properly - Fred Blasdel, from Seattle, who posted on the Velocipede Salon, the framebuilders' forum, built his own rear rack incorporating a front axle. fred blasdel rear rack.jpg fred blasdel tow bike.jpg fred blasdel tow bike 2.JPG He said it would be a simple enough matter t...
