Re: Swiss Mittelland (R5) route

I've done this route years ago. The signage of the Swiss cycle-routes is almost impeccable. So you don't need the expensive guides for that.
I remember this campsite as a very nice one.

Re: Crawley/London to Amsterdam JULY/AUG?

I think I am going to follow this route here: http://www.routeyou.com/en-gb/route/view/77977/cycling-route/oostende-amsterdam.en A few remarks on the dutch part of this route. Pro: It is a rather direct route. Con: It is a rather direct route. :) If you have a bit more time, take the LF9 NAP-route ...

If it's for nature alone then there are better options in my opinion. If you like Van Gogh it is a must do.

Alternative route Arnhem - Amsterdam could be this.

I think there are better sites for planning.

GPSies
or
ridewithGPS Includes directly a profile of your route.

On both sites choose OpenBycicleMap.

Re: New Route Planner

@ Richard I discoverded That it is not a problem in Scotland. I made several routes in Scotland, and I got a profile. :) But I made a route from Newcastle to Edinburgh and I go NO profile. I shortened the route and discovered the problem is here. http://cycle.travel/map/journey/334 But I must say, d...

Re: New Route Planner

@ Richard Fairhurst

Profiling of your routes works marvelous. In the southern part of the UK.
But north of Newcastle it doesn´t work properly. At least, for me. :?
I'm getting no profile al all.
Am I doing something wrong, or is Scotland completely flat. :D

Re: New Route Planner

Is there an "undo" facility? I've been playing with it but sometimes when I'm panning the map with the mouse I end up accidentally adding a ?waypoint where I don't want it, or I drag the route and decide I prefer the original. At the moment all I can do is reload the page which is a PITA....

Re: Touring in Belgium. what to see.

This is not abaut what to see, but where te stay, assuming you are sleeping in a tent. Some Dutch and Belgian cyclists made an overview of cycle-friendly campsites . The site is in Dutch/Flemisch, but mapreading is international (I hope :D ). The sites indicated in red are (temporarely) closed. Peter

Re: OpenFietsMap Europa (=OpenCycleMap Europe)

In your experience does this cause any lag issues when accessing, moving around the map? As you zoom out , you will loose a bit of speed. But it depends on the area whre you are. Dense cityscape is slower then some landscape with lesser information. Temporarely I'm working on a rather slow laptop a...

Because it's a very tough job for his PC it's not so often done. For the last few years he did it once a year. This time he's early. :)
