For inspiration, look here . Two suggestions: Zuiderzee-route , including the Afsluitdijk, closed in 1932. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/70/Afsluitdijk_01.JPG Or go to Zeeland and see the Delta-works. http://www.boxbarrier.com/upload/images/tinymce/oosterscheldekering.jpg

Re: Paris to Amsterdam

I got a minimum journey time of 15 hours with between 6 and 10 changes! According to the site of the Treinreiswinkel.nl (Traintravelshop :? ), only in Dutch: Amsterdam - Antwerpen Antwerpen - Lille Lille - Paris (TGV) For a timetable see here somewhere in the middle of the page: Vanuit Nederland na...

Re: Europe - Must sees/Dos

Some remarks on your planning. The first thing I noticed on your map was the train/flight connection between Lübeck, Germany (?) and Stockholm. You will have to fly, because in Sweden It is hardly possible to take your bike on the train. But is there an airport there? But more importend is the stres...

Re: Hoek van Holland to Vught

It is possible to take your bike on all the trains you need from Vught to the Hook. The only restriction is on weekdays in the rush hours 06.30 - 09.00 and 16.30 - 18.00. The biggest problem is to buy a ticket. Most of the stations in the Netherlands have no ticket booth (included Vught). You have t...

Re: Hoek van Holland to Vught

As said before, busy cyclepaths are cleared at some moment. But a lot of small, cyclefriendly roads, are not cleard at all.
And standalone ( :?: ) cyclepaths are NEVER cleared.

So look at the weatherforecast and change your tires.

Re: River Rhine.

I rather fancy ferry/train, in my case hailing from the north, DFDS, Newcastle to Amsterdam, and 'Nightline' Train from Amsterdam to Zurich. Has anyone used this route, and is it actually cycle friendly? I took DFDS several times. There is no specific place for bike. but you have to place them in a...
