Wet weather commuter tyres

I've come off my bike on my ride to work twice in the last month, having only fallen off once in the previous six years (and that one was definitely my fault). On the two recent occasions the bike just slid from under me whilst taking a bend - and not that quickly. The conditions were damp and I can only assume it's down to a combination of the surface and my tyres. I've been using Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x32s for about five years and been very impressed with their puncture resistance on long distance tours in the UK Spain and Scandinavia. After the first fall three weeks ago I replaced the rear tyre as it did seem a bit worn so the tyre that slid from under me today has only a couple of hundred miles of wear. After the first fall I'd also reduced the pressure a little.

So, finally getting to the question: has anybody else had similar problems with Schwalbes and has anybody any advice on alternative tyres that might have more grip but are still puncture proof?

Thanks

Chris
