I am becoming aware that I am less willing to use my bike for shopping, etc when it will be parked up in places like supermarket car parks. The 3 times a week with a pannier is more likely now to be once a week with my van. I wouldn't consider taking my bike into my nearby town and leaving it locked up for any length of time.
As my 'old' bike is also my touring bike, this is more so if I am going off on a trip, where the theft of it would be a major problem.
Hopefully not paranoia, but not helped by the appalling statistics on bike thefts, recovery and prosecution.
Anyone else consciously reducing their utility use of their bikes?

Re: Flix Bus - luggage queries
If you use a laundry bag, tie the handles together so they have to be used as one.
The weak point on these bags are the handle straps that are sewn down the side, underneath and back up to be the other side's handles. More than good enough for holding the bag from above, but if the bag is grabbed by just one handle it can rip off, conveniently using all the sewing holes as perforations. Been there done it.

I know you don't want to cause trouble, but it seems they are causing you plenty.
You could try contacting their local Trading Standards Office (Council service).

Unless I've missed it, what do those new markings denote.
Do they have any legal status or do they just imply a right of way to the cars.
What if a non stopping car hit a non stopping cyclist. Who is at fault.

Re: Cost of posting a boxed frame
Work out the size (l+w+h) and weight it will be and search online. Plenty of people do it.
I sent a Surly frame back in 2018 for £12. Obviously more now, but not a lot of money.

Re: Prepaid Mobile Plan for All of Europe?
Wouldn't any outlet at an airport be able to do that. After all they deal with tourists all the time.
However in my experience (albeit Asia) tourist SIMs are usually considerably more expensive than normal ones.
For me, it's usually a small time overhead to seek out an appropriate store to get my SIM set up on first day.

Re: (Urgent) Help needed - Cycleway complaint
After I posted above, I went through a few of the recent newsletters of the Church and Primary school to see if there were any clues. Nothing mentioned, although maybe I didn't go far enough back.
Nonetheless as it is (in part) a Primary school, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for sympathy from the press even though most (or all).of the little darlings will be in cars. It'll be children at risk from speeding cyclists.

Call me cynical but is it worth investigating who are the the worthies at Christ the King.
Given this is the only access/egress altered, it could be a bit of string pulling.
Maybe a friendly chat off bike with some of the drivers asking about the (very good) change.

Maybe get them to activate it and use it for a while in UK, even as a second SIM on their phone.. Going straight to roaming might (??) cause problems

Bikes on Buses in New Zealand - Not Anymore
Interesting and amusing article here.
For may years lots of Kiwi buses had bike racks on the front, something we would love. Now some bright spark has realised these may interfere with the bus' headlights so cannot be used.
In a separate development, at the same time Auckland are thinking of allowing bikes inside buses. Something we would like.

I wouldn't agree about the Telegraph. Maybe only one story, but they were reporting Ryanair's O'Leary whinging about APT post budget.
They got 3 elements of the story wrong but they were able to pin them all on Labour's Reeves' budget.

Re: A place to record lenient sentencing for motorvehicle....
Not sure if harsh sentences are allowed, but they do show the weakness of the UK system. 25 years in the USA for killing while well over the limit
"A US woman has pleaded guilty to drink-driving charges over an incident in which she killed a newlywed bride who was travelling in a golf cart on her wedding night.
Jamie Lee Komoroski was sentenced to 25 years in prison over the crash in South Carolina last year that killed Samantha Miller while she was still wearing her wedding dress."

Re: cycling india
I agree you can avoid most of the Highway, but if you look at it on streetview there are plenty of small motorbikes. Also in some parts it's no more than a normal 2 lane road.
No idea about rule of no cycling but it's maybe only on motorway equivalent roads, not this (in part) 2 lane one.
If there's no cycling, then you sometimes run into problems with bridges as no other way to cross a river, but the one I looked at has a sidewalk on either side.
Carefully check out any small coastal roads as they have a habit of disappearing into a sandy track. Nonetheless it all looks pretty good to me.
