Re: Have to stretch to reach brakes

If you decide to change bars and stem-in my opinion the real solution- this will last you the next 20 years, with AHEAD stems giving such ease/adaptability to vary stem length to get EXACTLY what you want. I have shorter reach bars which I won't be using again. MAKER-- ONE23 model TE11 420mm. 144 77...

Re: Seized: the death knell of a frame?

Rarely! The old "war Babies" throw out nowt!! As always, this is not a new problem and, something many of us have solved in our different ways with whatever we have to hand. If necessity is mother of invention then desperation is the father of innovation!! Is time available, can you, your ...

ontheriver77 2017!! and also honesty--focussed on riders motivation etc ?? I haven't seen it but guess this is not intended as a tourist board brochure. What do you believe content/focus should be? This video is perhaps a view from inside of the "peloton". Myself, I have missed out on a lo...

Re: A salutary tale......caveat emptor

My condolences to NEILOB. This exploitation of the site was inevitable. We must not in any way blame the regulators. AFAIAA volunteers are not out on their bikes as us, but *running the show* for us using a set of operating rules that should NEVER have been allowed. As previous posts have mentioned ...

Re: Cycle scrappage

Cycle scrappage? Can we go off on a related tangent? I have, over the years, via this site recycled quite a lot of accumulated part worn spares from my 62 years as a club cyclist to members "et all". Its pleasant to get someone back on the road with something you will probably never use ag...

Re: Worn Front Mech?

There is an ultegra fr.mech--also worn? that MIGHT BE BETTER THAN YOURS on For Sale board.
Possible cheap solution?
Perhaps worth your while to have a look .
Listen to what others advise.
But, at £12 this might be cheaper experiment than new replacement?

Re: HEADSET

Before anyone can advise on remedial action you need to clarify what type of headset it is? Does it have an Allen screwed fixing clamp for stem and Allen screw at top-AHEAD type- modern fixing or Big nut for threads on fork? Traditional- bike probably 20+years old. Whichever it is the 'play' will al...

Re: Thorn puncture - any reason not to keep using the tyre?

Yes, use after thorn puncture BUT after puncture from shard of glass which probably will have damaged the threads in carcase I usually, at home, stick a thin Cure-C-Cure type patch for local re-inforcement and biro mark the sidewall to identify as an old scar for future when checking tyre for cuts/d...

Re: The age concession: a crisis of conscience

Anybody have access to the the "plastic" agm? Did the zealots with their own personal "axe to grind" who now run what once was, for 130 years, a splendid CYCLING CLUB win their day?? While the limitations from CORONA VIRUS might prove to be convenient for them we must recognise f...

pm me -for contact with active ctc member at Lanchester.
He has agreed that I can forward his number.
Graham is 67, perhaps fair to say he is a mountaineer with a bike.
Pleasant, interesting man--"just along the line"
