Re: CTC head honcho
re accounts etc can be found at www. etc why? Until 2011 every member had the automatic (legal?) right to receive this information directly in a posted printed form as per annual report. Then it was decided that CTC would "save" some of OUR money by using electronic communication. As far a...

Re: rear mech
Will have a look in garage tomorrow after bike ride for clamp and bolt. Someone somewhere will have a worn out rear mech for salvage. No need to be stuck in top. Screw the cage "stop" high adjusting screw down to shift a couple of sprockets up the block/cassette. BEWARE! don't take it too ...

Re: Derwent reservoir circuit - how rough?
The "Durham" Derwent Reservoir is featured in the premier classic RR circuit- can be "all things to all men". A bit of A68 and a bit of ruff stuff or as in Tour of the reservoir an all road circuit. Potential tourists might favour traditional ,simple, youth hostel at Edmundbyers ...

Re: snapped spindles and gear hangers
Interesting how this has all panned out. When I set out to recycle a 70's record rear spindle which I won't use now and having, as stated, snapped two myself I didn't anticipate initiating this all this interest. I always suspected that the different loadings on bearings affected the local stress on...

Re:Snapped Spindles and gear hangers?
Thanks for this. Things break because??? Not fit for purpose?? Always been curious about this rare product failure. Not like mr Campag to get his sums wrong then component fails in service. Has anyone addressed the, not rare, failure of modern rear bolt-on gear hangers. They break, sometimes rear me...

snapped spindles and gear hangers
moderator note: this thread was split from the 'retrobates' thread in the for sale section CAMPAG RECORD rear spindle L -128mm. £5 posted Rare spare. They do fail. Snapped two of these in thirty years before I went to freehubs which have a much improved bearing set up. Both snapped at same place--o...

CTC funding for disability groups - split from trike sale ad
Warren, at 2012CTC agm (Sheffield) a *motion supporting refunding of out of pocket expenses for members providing support/service to disabled groups was passed. Voting was something like 90% for 10% against. Therefore, logically, our CHARITABLE ORGANISATION should honour this club commitment by fund...

Re: Ten thousand new members in 2013 - congratulations!
So we will see the real membership recruitment figures in the annual report? Perhaps. Will every member receive this? Up to 2012 we all received a copy of accounts and annual report. A decision at 2012(Sheffield) agm, to reduce costs, meant that unless members specifically requested a printed copy o...

Re: Tightening pedals onto cranks
Put the spanner on and turn forwards-towards the front to FIX/fit pedals.
Put the spanner on and turn towards the back to BACK them off/remove them.
NOTE this applies with bike right way up with.
