Re: GWR compulsory bike booking

Recent experiences booking. Exeter to Tyndrum via London and sleeper to Glasgow with bike on board. If you book online your bike ends up going by road to Glasgow. Had to go to a station for booking travel in England with a bike. Scotrail by telephone and dealt with by extremely helpful people. Exete...

Dynamo cable

I want to make a custom lead for my dynamo o/p to feed the e-werk usb and Edelux via a splitter inside top tube bag. As far as I can see both the e-werk and Edeleux use a 1c screened cable. Is there any reason not to use a 2c cable? Just wondered if AC in an unscreened cable might interfere with Gar...

Re: London route

Thanks for the info.
I didn't realise how close the two stations are and as I have several hours to wait could walk it in the time available.
Maybe I could get off at Reading and cycle up the Thames Path.

London route

I have to get from Paddington to Euston with my bike to get the sleeper train to Scotland. I read somewhere that there is a cycle designated route using back streets not traffic free but quiet. As I don't know my way around some pointers to which streets to use would be helpful. Is there a website o...

etrex tracks

I am doing a route over a couple of days. For verification purposes I need to submit the track as plotted by my etrex to ensure I followed the route and completed inside allotted time. Is it 'safe to let the device store the tracks away or should I manually store them? If the device stores them can ...

Not in your area but certainly recommend 'spokesman wheels' or 'just riding along'.
Both got websites.

XT 2x front shifter

Hello and seasons greetings. About to fit a front shifter for 2 x 11 Shimano XT. The shifter out of the box is set for 3 position. In order to use for 2 position is there an adjustment to make or do I use as is? If using as is do I use Right and Centre or Centre and Left or doesn't it matter? I did ...

Re: Stuck Seatpost? PSA

I do not want to hijack the thread but has anyone done any research into dissimilar metals on bikes? Just looking at the tables for ti and AlAl they are shown as -.3V and -.9/-.95V depending on the alloy. Chuck in some magnesium and you might be able to run some lights. I assume the seatpost...

Just need to throw into the mix the ultralight options of tarp and bivvi bag.
Plenty of us sleep out without tents and stay warm and dry.

Re: Camino de Santiago/Way of St James

There is always http://www.bike-express.co.uk although never managed to find a space for the dates I wanted to go. Might have to book a year in advance. The camino de santiago forum has a bike section if you haven't already tried that. I think there are people in Santiago who box up bikes for shippi...

crossing london

I am planning a trip which could involve crossing London on the Thames Path east west or vica versa or approaching/leaving south on Avenue Vert. Distance Reading to Greenwich is approx 34 miles but how far out would I need to go to find a camping ground or place? Had my eye on that stand of birch ou...
