Re: What Model is this Pinarello?

Looks smoky... If you decide to buy a used Pinarello via the INTERNET, and it is not possible to visit the seller, it is crucial you request the PINARELLO SERIAL NUMBER which is located under the bottom bracket. In addition request for a photo of this serial number and a copy of the Official Pinarel...

Re: WIMPS Coast To Coast 2019

Keswick it's not far from the last stop but if we can safely store the bikes in the van it's a nice place to look around. I'll give the tourist bit a miss ... i'll probably be on oxygen by then .. :D ... and the last 20 visits to Keswick where enough ... I’m with you there... back in the sixt...

Re: September weather?

The rain hasn’t been constant but the SW wind has. I rode with a couple of JOGLERs last week. The partnership was under strain :D They were doing 100 ml days and one was obviously a lot stronger rider than the other. Even the strong rider was getting resentful of having to break the wind day after d...

Re: Edinburgh to Carlisle

Have you read The Rambling Fatman?
For me the default scenic route E to C is> Innerleithen > Gordon Arms >Eskdalemuir > Langholm > Longtown or even a detour via Copshawholme ( Newcastleton )

Re: Help my heads spinning

maybe hire a few current bikes first and see what works for you. Go to your nearest trail centre and see what they have?? This is very good advice and something I did myself earlier this week. I discovered they are totally different to those of the nineties. Slack head tube angles abound and gettin...

Re: WIMPS Coast To Coast 2019

Nick, I’ve been up all the ups bar one. There’s an up at the end which I’ve never been up . I’ve asked those who’ve been up it what is it like? I don’t want to put the wind up you but it doesn’t sound too friendly to me. Don’t get your hopes up about riding this one it’s name suggest you’ll be crawl...

Re: WIMPS Coast To Coast 2019

That should be fine
It’s not a market day AFAIK so yes you could go straight up passed the Moot Hall if it’s not too busy looking with pedestrians. If it’s crawling with bagrats then the road will be quicker.

Re: Ticks and wild camping!!!

As far as I understand... you don't always get a bulls eye rash and if you do it's not always around the bite. I picked up ten or so ticks this weekend around Elan Valley area. They were nearly all larvae/nymphs and not mich bigger than a full stop or poppy seed. If I didn't know what I was looking...

Re: Why don't road cyclists say hello anymore?

Most E2E nders I come across are pleased to see a cheery smile or wave and if I’m going in the same direction a bit of conversation. There are some I come across who don’t acknowledge and I can live with that and yes usually the type of bike and clothing can give an advanced warning of that. I usual...

Re: 2 chainring versus 3 chainring crank

Please, please don't just buy any old road bike without being sure the gears will go low enough. As Reohn2 rightly points out many, many write in to this forum asking how they can get lower gears on a road bike with a compact double chainset. We virtually never get anyone complaining that their gea...

Closest I can think of is set lap distance to point one of a mile and have a field showing lap distance time.

Re: Bank holiday, are people mad

I’ve never understood the eagerness of people to become an actual part of the congestion and madness that often surrounds a BH. I assume the people who do it can’t go to work or have nothing to do at home. I think, when working, I worked every Easter and every BH after all it was double time in the ...
