Re: Bus back from JoG

I can't comment on that specific service. I've found here in Scotland it pays to ring the operator and ask. Stagecoach, run the long distance routes distance around me and they have said yes when asked. You can leave it upto just asking the driver on the day and they more than likely say yes. But if...

Re: Cycling with Dogs

Thank you HC for addressing BB. When I read the comment earlier i chose to ignore it. I can only think BB has had a trying weekend offending a large proportion of the population as being "needy" , indeed?

Re: Fixing fence posts - suggestions wanted

There appears to be a lot of faith in preservatives amongst many of you. Now environmentally friendly and not the same products we grew up with. One of the best preserved sheds I have, about 35yo has only ever been treated with waste oil mixed with diesel. Most fencing stobs in my youth were from Eu...

Re: Fixing fence posts - suggestions wanted

[ This is the answer, but make sure you use tanalised timber for the new post, and even then I'd further treat it with Cuprinol 5 star wood treatment or similar(but not a water based one) paying special attention to end grain by standing the new posts in it for a day or two. When fitted I'd then mix ...

Re: Fixing fence posts - suggestions wanted

IMO posts/stobs always rot quicker when they are in concrete and always just above the concrete. Even quicker if the concrete is below ground level. When in earth they usually rot in the first 6" under the surface. I now wrap a damp proof course or heavy duty plastic around them, at this point ...

Re: How long a bike shirt lasts

My oldest top dates back to the launch of New Cyclist magazine, someone may tell us how many years ago that was. Slogan is Go Green / Go Bike. Made by Bean Bag, in Durham, and has stretched or maybe I've shrunk.

Re: How to get 7 riders and bikes to Oban

Another possible volunteer driver here Colin, looking for a day out, if it's a day I'm free. I could be picked up from J16 on M74, trip to Oban and return van to Central belt depot. Can you then hire from Inverness?

I never set out without..............

Whether to out with or against a tail wind should have a thread of its own.
Part of me says save the tail wind til you turn for home and maybe tired. Another voice says go out with the tail wind, because at that point it is a certainty, if it were to drop or change direction then you'll never get it.

Re: The TV debate

The great pity about the SNP popularity in Scotland is that even if the WHOLE of Scotland voted for their SNP candidates, it would put the tories in power ................ and Scotland would be governed from Westminster by a party no-one voted for. Certainly is a great pity. A perfect example of th...

Re: The TV debate

I do like the multi party aspect. It's just a pity we don't have a voting system to support it. That's so true. I believe the main reason our Scottish Parliament works well is because of PR. I think you all got an insight, last night, as to why SNP is so popular here. Strange that unionist parties ...
