Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

To end my story......
Trek have come up trumps, I'm a happy bunny.

I will also give thanks to and thoroughly recommend my dealer Scotby Cycles in Carlisle. So pleased I supported a LBS.

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

I believe the Madone takes guards with 23mm I would think there will be a bit of modification, hacksaw required, with 25mm. .......

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

Pleased to hear you are sorted. Considering that option myself now. Working out the figures it needs a different stem to get it rideable for me. Attraction of it is getting back on the road quick and not being Alu Domane

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

Took mine into my dealer today. Made sure they knew I wasn't going to accept like for like. Gave them the option of a full refund or upgrade to carbon. They spoke highly of Trek replacing and seemed quite upbeat about Trek agreeing to the upgrade. I haven't found any evidence of the carbon frame sea...

Re: Looking at me Lecky...

Scottish Power gave me one of these monitors a number of years ago. I soon discovered the Freezer was gobbling it up. Bought a new A+ and it paid for itself within a couple if years. Even five years on our bills are no where near what they were.

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

I'd considered dropping the saddle to get home but I thought that would probably be more pain than standing up. I get a pain in my thighs seeing other peoples saddle too low and I'm not even riding them. [emoji2]

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

Just had a look down the seat tube with a torch. It isn't possible to see where any join is. What appears to be a line in the pic is the point it flares out after gripping the seat post http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/30/f410d272f18d1f3a7649276feba6b72a.jpg RE weight, at least you are now kn...

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

Trek weight limit for road frames is 275lbs. I can guess what they will say to you but then they knew your weight when they sold it to you?

Re: Wheel Building Course: Recommended

I watched a video on YouTube, using bean tins on the kitchen table, then built a wheel. Call it beginners luck but it's given me no trouble, apart from re tightening a few spokes, in three years of commuting now.

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

I can't seem to find any evidence of the carbon versions breaking. I did ask the sales person at time of purchase how can aluminium flex? Hope Bench figures out how to get a picture up soon. I'm taking evidence of all pics I've found ont tinternet with me. Ready for when they say they've never seen ...

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

FWIW I'd seek out a lot longer seatpost as a spigot support in the breakage area of the s/tube. Taking my bits off today prior to taking it in tomorrow. The seat post went beyond the break. It was also a good 2" above the minimum insertion point. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/30/6d34...

Re: Domane 2.3 frame failure

Trek will have no issue replacing the frame but I doubt it would be upgraded. Your dealer may take pity and allow an upgrade but there's the slight issue that you can't buy a 4 series frameset on it's own. That's a bummer are you certain there is no way they could get hold of a 4 series frame? As I...

Domane 2.3 frame failure

Trading standards direct you to CAB site where I've gleaned the following knowledge. You bought the goods more than six months ago If you received the goods more than six months ago, you can ask for a replacement or a repair as long as it's reasonable for the goods to have lasted this long. But you ...
