Re: Hell On A Cycle Path.

There was a case locally a couple of years ago where a driver swerved across the road to intimidate a cyclist. He was clearly captured on camera and reported to the police. It turned out he was on a suspended sentence for a more serious crime, and was immediately jailed.

I’ve recently read that book. An excellent account of a radical politician not always remembered these days.

Re: Is it just me?

I have certainly noticed recently that some approaching vehicles don’t seem to dip headlights at all, or dip late only after a second or two of dazzling. I suspect these are automatic systems not working properly. I agree it is a very bad development.

Re: Things you've never done

I started this thread in 2013 and it’s interesting to see it picked up again. It was indeed intended to highlight common practices that some of us eschew. I now have to add that I have never ridden an electric bike.....so far

Re: Bought £1700 Carbon Bike - Now scared to use it.

We have a chap in our club who is always into the latest top end stuff. A few years ago when electric gears came out he was the first to indulge, on a fancy carbon frame of course. On club rides he would never go into the cafe, but stayed outside to guard it. Having said that, carbon is pretty tough...

It is possible that the lugs at the base of the forks would keep the wheel in place to some extent, but I would fear the worst regarding sabotage. Time to move residence I think.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

So no none has anything to give me hope the UK will be better off or even the same after we leave the EU. Why are we doing it then? Simple. Because a few rich neo-fascists who want to be evn richer played on prejudices and stupidity, pointed to the EU as the source of our troubles (rather than have...

Re: Tyre popped off the rim?

I’ve had a folding tyre explode off the rim whilst being inflated, at some way below maximum pressure. It’s why I don’t like folders, except for a spare one carried during a tour.

Re: He didn't even stop!

This story has been featured on the MX5 Owners’ Club pages for some days, and has attracted many comments. (The car involved was a Mazda MX5). Condemnation of the driver has been as universal as it has on here, with comments similar to this group. There is certainly no attempt to offer any excuse fo...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

It’s now almost two years since the flawed referendum, and I’ve yet to hear one benefit of Brexit. It’s not even the “will of the people” any more according to opinion polls, not that 37% of the electorate was ever a majority.

My mother always used to say it meant the month of May, but I always maintained it referred to the blossom.
