It's likely that the cable has stretched a little, this is normal after a few miles. Try tweaking the adjuster on the end of the cable at the rear mech end. Just a shade should do it. In my experience cable stretch can sometimes affect just one or two sprockets.

Glad you are not too badly injured :)

If you are a CTC member I suggest you get in touch with their legal service. I believe they are very good and have lots of experience of this sort of thing. Not had cause to use them myself tho'

Good luck

Well, I must admit to have a few bottles of this in the house. Chas discovered the red Cono Sur a few weeks back, he only got it cos he knew the bike would impress.... it stated off at £3.99 now its over £5 and the shelf is empty each week. I love red wine. Cannot afford the really good stuff...

Last winter I got a puncture in my back tyre while on the turbo in the garage

There was a bit of grit that must have been there since the tyre was fitted, there was no hole in the cover and it had never punctured before.

Before energy bars and gels were invented, I used to take peanut butter and honey sandwiches on Audax rides. They worked a treat. 8)

It's TdF time, you always see more riders out. The same as people playing tennis during Wimbledon.

That's a very good summing up of touring and cycling generally. For me, I find that any negative thoughts are quickly turned into positive ones, even things that have been worrying me. I always find it amazing how many problems can be solved whilst cycling. 8)

What cars have the worst drivers?

Excluding commercial vehicles, what do you think? BMW's used to be bad, but in my experience the most aggressive driver now uses an Audi, especially TT's and the newer models with silly lights. Obviously I am not saying they are all bad, but I think a higher percentage of Audi owners drive aggressiv...

Years ago I bought a second hand bike from a clubmate. He was shorter than me so I needed to raise the saddle, but he was obviously not into regular maintenance because the seat pin was well and truly stuck. I tried WD40 and similar but nothing worked. LBS tried and managed to snap the pin off close...

They normally send a returns note with the goods in case they have to go back. If you have this why not just send the book back and ask for correct one? The CTC shop is run by Evans if this helps.
