Re: Funniest clean joke I've heard recently

I've uploaded the NHS Tracking App

It showed that I visited an Optician, a Chemist and then went to Greggs

Now the Government know all about my lifestyle:

Re: Will You be using the NHS app?

My data would be terribly flawed, and they would always be calling me. I need to have my phone with me as I am either on-call, liasing with others or managing and contacting staff who are off, in isolation etc. Therefore I would be triggering the alarms every time I dealt with a patient . Possibly ...

Re: Will You be using the NHS app?

well so far 50:50 dont look good for the success of the app if this reflects the country at large - I understand they need a 80% take up of mobile users? It may be a bit presumptive to think the opinions of 34 posters on a Cycling forum are representative of the wider population on this issue. Let'...

Re: Is the UK government an incompentent bunch of liars?

So you can't find anything in the transcript of the video which where the President says he thinks injecting disinfectant is a good idea or that UV light is either? You provided us with the video. Now tell us where he says either of these things. Please don't tell us what you or your thousands of s...

Re: Is anyone moving?

Sorry late to the party. Having worked in the Private Health Care sector I've seen this judgmental and ill informed comment too many times: Was it my comment you are calling ill informed? That's a very aggressive stance to jump in with. How do you know where or how I'm informed? You've worked in th...

Re: Is anyone moving?

In a sort of balance a lot of our own grown Medics give-up on our NHS (‘cause it doesn’t treat them that well) and find new employment overseas. Or in the private sector that wouldn’t be so profitable if it didn’t leach off the NHS. Sorry late to the party. Having worked in the Private Health Care ...

Re: Corona Virus statistics - anomalies?

Dr John Lee (a retired pathologist) has explored this quite extensively in the Spectator. He says that reporting rules have now been (alarmingly) changed and that someone (AIUI) who dies with coronavirus will now be recorded as having died of coronavirus i.e. covid19 was the cause of death. The WHO...

Re: The cops get their knuckles rapped

Lord Sumption needs to wind his neck in as far as I'm concerned. The Police, like many of us, are doing a difficult job in an unprecedented situation. It doesn't help that a number of people are seeing how far they can push the limits of Lockdown (see the Triathlete 200 mile ride post in the How far...

Re: Taxi recommendation??

Or cycle, its 100Km so a comfortable days ride Please show a route or it's 112km ;) https://cycle.travel/map?from=Heathrow+Terminal+5&to=Portsmouth 100Km versus 112Km? I wouldn't regard that as a huge difference for a days bike ride. Never the less it's quite possible to plot a route close to 1...

Re: Taxi recommendation??

There are several dedicated Airport Taxi firms operating from Portsmouth, I think you will find all of them reliable, they would soon be out of business otherwise. I've previously used Sunny Airport Cars & were happy with their service. They have a minibus with a large luggage section in the bac...

Re: Views on GARMIN e Trex 32x

get a Garmin Edge 830 or 520 and a powerbank way way better than an E Trex That's a very generalised statement which you've failed to qualify in any way. Looking at the what the OP intends to use the GPS for and Etrex will be a good choice; Half the cost of an Edge 830 A good choice for navigation ...

Re: Very tentatively considering JOGLE 2020 - ideas?

As others have said, go for it. End to End is an epic ride which you will really enjoy and will provide plenty of memories and stories to tell. I was faced with some similar decisions to make in 2013/2018 as my ride partner was approaching his 70th birthday and the distances & logistics involved...
