Shetland on Tri-1 folding trike

We are looking for advice from experienced cycle tourists who can appreciate our particular requirements. We are in our late 70s and regularly ride with a group on easy, smooth, friendly cambered cycle paths. We have, however some experience of riding on quieter roads and have taken part in two Peda...

Gnutti cottered bb threadsMy

My 1956 Urago bottom bracket right hand cup is firmly in place and I would like to remove it. The lh cup and lock ring have come away without any bother and were rh threads. I would expect the rh cup to be a rh thread to make it self tightening, but without a proper key, I could have a go with my co...

Re: Adult non recumbent tadpole trikes

Thanks Elizabethsdad for that. I had a look at his website and it's very interesting. I was surprised that there wasn't even one example of a trike without a utility or commercial purpose. I think he is worth further investigation.

Thanks again

Re: Adult non recumbent tadpole trikes

Brucey and tatanab, thanks, you have given me a useful wealth of information, which I have looked over briefly. It is going to take me quite a while to look at all these leads, there is so much to think about and your first hand experience is invaluable.

Many thanks

Re: Adult non recumbent tadpole trikes

Many thanks Tatanab. There's some interesting stuff there and that specialist forum could be useful. I assume It's a UK forum? I couldn't trace the SPA entry. Is it in this category? Currently we have a Pashley Tri1 with a retrofitted electric motor which has proved very satisfactory on cycle paths ...

Re: LH or RH thread on bottom bracket fixed cup

Thanks Colin. Yes I saw Sheldon Brown's clever trick and I could try that, but it would only be possible once I knew if the thread was RH orLH. Your idea might be worth a try. A wee arrow on the surface would have been helpful, but it's not there, so no point in wishing. Many thanks.

LH or RH thread on bottom bracket fixed cup

For a fixed ball cup on the bottom bracket of a 1956 Urago frame which is French, is there a way of telling whether it is a LH or RH thread? According to some sources it could be RH which would mean it would have to be very very tight. Also, why is the outside diameter on each end different, needing...

Re: Steel frame repair

Thanks for these comments. The possible cause was when the front wheel stopped suddenly in a hole in a grass field during an egg and spoon race!!!! and I went over the handlebars. I am a bit cautious because of its age as someone I know had their handlebars collapse on one side while descending a hi...

Steel frame repair

I have a 1956 Urago which I am renovating. I don't know what type of tubing it is. Unfortunately the top tube and down tube have a very very small bulge on the underside, just close to the lugs. I may not have it repaired as I suspect I rode it for decades without even being aware of having damaged ...

Re: cycling world magazine

I'm regretting paying over £4 for a magazine (April 2014) which has so much advertising in it. In many of the articles, the information is obtainable from websites of the 'subject' eg the Borders article begins with a photo which is the first thing you would see on the website of 'Cycle Scottish Bor...

cycling world magazine

I was wanting to add my comments to this topic, but it could not be found, despite the fact that there were comments I found on the CTC FORUM WHEN i googled the subject. Is it a dead file?
