The package has been delivered ! ( skid sign ) I will now have to wait and see what sort of reaction I get from Dr M Mehemet, Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council.
A slide show, showing road signs and out of date road closure notices has also been posted to You Tube . see https://youtu.be/V1-iGifWwYo

Re: New steel frame?
Jan 2015, made a big mistake and bought a Giant Anyroad 1, first alu bike I have ever owned. It was awful. I needed a road type bike, cannot not manage proper road bike, something in between.I settled on a Kona Rove. Steel frame, good pedigree! and easy to build up from scratch your self. Did not want the whole bike as I intended stripping the parts from the Giant. I had a little difficulty sourcing the frame and forks. Eventually found a man called Carver, who has a company called BIkeman, in the usa. The frame and forks were sent over in a matter of days about £450.00p thats the good news, bad news tax was another £108.00p, the only good news so hard to get hold of the straight forward Rove is quite exclusive. Bottom line ? absolutely brilliant! I use it with a compact double 10. Shimmano bits I think Sora because its all quite annon coming off the Giant. Hope Pro 4 hubs fitted to Stans rims, (Got rid of the Giant wheels) (Got rid of the Avid bb5 calipers) TRP brakes. Very comfortable, quick, will go almost anywhere. Easy to ride has an upright stance, predictable handling and easy to build yourself, did not need specialist tools. If your can get one have a look at the Rove.

Re: Fill the hole website
I have just taken delivery of a very large cardboard box. I know where there is a mangled skid warning sign that has been in place for two years. My intention is to parcel it up, very tidily, and deliver it to County HQ for the Chief Executive. Make him think Christmas has come early ! Inside the box he will find his sign and my bill for collecting and delivering to his office. He wont pay but he will get the message! see You Tube

Re: Fill the hole website
FillThatHole.org! absolutely love it ! what makes it even better is I know my Council hates it with a passion. Our roads in the south of Denbighshire, North Wales are appalling. Its not just the potholes, its the mud, the cow sh*t, the thorns, the missing signs, the temp warning signs that I have paid for via way of Council Tax that are put out and forgotten about. The general mismanagement, by highly paid managers that are putting out lives at risk. I can and do manage to upload at least one new pothole a week and update old ones. Does not take long ten mins at the PC and its done. I now put Denbighshire County Council's mismanagement of our Public Highways on You Tube as well and cross reference with each. Sorry yes a rant ! but if we dont publish and make available the poor state of our roads, Councils like Denbighshire will continue to put our lives at risk by their neglect. Have you ever tried a compensation claim against a Council? I know Denbighshire treat ALL claims as fraudulent, they will then work with their insurance company Zuirich to avoid any payout. They use the industry tactic Defend, Deny, Delay. However if its on FillTahtHole.org it makes it so much harder for them to defend, especially with pics.
Have a look at Denbighshire in the league table section of the FillThatHole.org web site and DenbighshireCC Fails on You Tube.

Re: Had your bike stolen? Useful tips for recovery
Think ahead and register with " Immobolise" National organisation that is used by and supported by Police Forces up and down the Country. You can put all your bike details, serial number description etc on the Data Base, so should the worse happen you already have a record of the bike. Apparently all Police Forces check the Data Base when they recover find property which they think may be lost or stolen.

Re: How limiting is a rigid bike?
Have only just joined and appreciate only just coming into this. For medical reasons I cannot ride a road bike. Again for medical reasons I have been advised that cycling would be the best form of exercise. I settled on a steel frame designed with 29 inch wheels in mind. I cannot afford two bikes and the road bike option was out. However I wanted/needed a bike to do both road and off. Initially the bike was fitted with suspension forks, however they developed a fault and had to go back to the supplier to be fixed. I was not prepared to wait so I fitted a solid pair of steel forks, I have not gone back to the sus forks. After a good deal of searching and a couple of poor buys I found tyres that were happy on both tarmac and off road, so long as its not too muddy! Maxxis Crossmarks. I feel I now have the perfect do anything bike. It will quite happily "take on" and stay with a road bike on tarmac when I am feeling energetic ! It will also turn quite happily off tarmac straight on to dirt track, forestry etc and belt along at a good speed or just trundle, again depends on how energetic I am. Yes, it cannot go down hill at great speed over rough ground but it is great fun nonetheless. I have found you soon learn to pick the best route. So to answer your question how limiting ? Get the right frame, 29 inch wheels and the bike will go anywhere there are no limits !
