Meet the Trustee Event - Submit your questions!

Did anybody take part in this event?

I submitted 4 questions, but none got answered.

I thought it was a bit of a lover-in.

Good Afternoon,

We are now only a few hours away from our exclusive member webinar – Meet the Trustees.

As a reminder, this online event is being held tonight, Thursday 5th September at 6pm via Microsoft Teams.

The agenda for the evening is as follows:

Host – Katie Legg (Commercial Director)

• Introduction – Katie Legg (Commercial Director)
• Trustee Talks – Paul Baker (Acting Chair) , Richard May, Nadia Kerr & Robin Tucker
• Trustee Q&A – Hosted by Hannah Foster (Head of Membership)

We would love to invite you to submit some questions ahead of the Q&A session. Any questions surrounding trustee responsibilities and charity vision, the upcoming AGM or why they chose to become a trustee would be massively appreciated. Depending on the quantity of questions submitted, we will do our very best to answer all of them.

Please follow this link to submit your question - https://forms.office.com/e/BWHFpvGkBU

We understand that plans change, and you may no longer be able to attend. We are also looking to record the event and make it available afterwards if you can no longer attend.

We are looking forward to a fantastic evening, hearing your questions and allowing you to meet those at the forefront of the charity. See you soon!

It’s always the same question; are you washing muck and wear debris OUT or IN?
I don’t know how you can be certain, other than Sheldon Browns method

Me thinks the SB methods is April fool?

Re: Wide shoes are needed for cycling, walking, and work.

Thank you for the comments so far. I bought a size 10 UK-wide from Adidas

https://www.adidas.co.uk/five-ten-freer ... W2836.html

Foot Length UK size Girth Width Width Sizing
Left 271mm 10 270mm 120mm XXXW (9E/10E) or H
Left 10.6693inchs 10.6299inch 4.72441inch

Right 270mm 270mm 120mm
Right 10.6299inch 10.6299inch 4.72441inch

I still found them too narrow, even according to www I am size 10 the shoes felt too short I may need size 10.5

Above are the exact measurements of my bare feet, measured using the metal rule and right angel square.

What I find strange is that I used to wear size 9uk and narrow Italian design cycle racing shoes. But for the last 30 years, I have been wearing trainers.

https://www.karrimor.com/ shoes used to fit me I used to purchase them from https://www.lillywhites.com/, but they said they no longer sell wide shoes.

Any comments are welcome.

pq wrote: 19 Aug 2024, 4:02pm Lake specialise in wide feet. Their standard shoes are quite wide and they do wider versions. I also found their online fitting tool worked well for mail order purchases.
I need to be able to walk and work in them, Lakes are just cycling shoes.

Wide shoes are needed for cycling, walking, and work.

I am having trouble finding something suitable.

I live in central London.

I have size 10 UK size feet, width is H (27mm girth) (been measured in a shoe shop)

I am looking for a pair of trainers, in dark colour.

Reasonable price

Can anybody help?

That isn't what it says in the MG Handbook.
Please supply the link, I would suggest it would require a progress going via HQ
Log into your Cycling UK account and search it, then look at the roles of Registration Officer and Communications officer.

Thanks again!
My MG used to mail every new CTC member an introductory letter and a copy of our local magazine. In about twenty years I can only recall one member riding with us as a result. That's despite it being a fairly active group with up to five rides a week, I do wish CUK would promote the groups better, at least make them more prominent as a member benefit. Though I've seen records of DA's making this complaint as far back as the 1930's. The reality is, most people join CUK for other reasons and if they were looking for a group to ride with there'll find it. We have riders join us who have never heard of CUK, we recruit for them better than they for us!

In recent years the Trustees have engaged with the membership over our conversion to a Charity and the change of brand to Cycling UK. History tells us that the mission and values behind these changes were understood, supported and (or at the very least) accepted by the majority of our diverse membership.

Why do you believe they have failed to engage?

None of the current trustees were either CTC/CUK trustee members or CTC members when the above changes took place.

I addition the changes were brought about by being economic with the truth, eg election of trustees.

Re: Brompton chain tensioner jockey wheels - clean or replace?

I clean many Bromptons, sometimes ridden in the sand,

Take off the bike
smother in degreaser
leave for say 30 minutes
put in a bucket of water, best if the water is hot
scrub with a floor brush
use a tiny Allen key to pick out muck from small recesses
repeat until clean

4. OBJECTS
...
4.2 preserve and protect the health and safety of the public by encouraging and facilitating cycling and the safety of cyclists;
(My underline)
In the statement you have screen-grabbed Cycling UK explains that they do behaviour change work with communities that include refugees and asylum seekers. That work provides them with refurbished cycles, teaches them how to ride and maintain them, shows them safe routes to get to the shops, access healthcare, meet up with friends, etc.

If they don't feel safe to leave their homes for fear of abuse and violence I doubt that they're going to do any cycling.

I am glad that Cycling UK has chosen to speak out against the extreme hatred that has been displayed on UK streets over the last few days.

The participants in the riot did not targets, any primal activities may deter anybody from cycling.

Using you logic should CTC/CUK have a stated view on nuclear power?
