Re: Steel frame and forks.

Spa products look viable but the online information is pitiful. Poor res photo and no dimensions info. I like the Genesis frame but I’m falling between sizes - I need a shorter top tube or a higher stack. Titanium is starting to look attractive but everything has a carbon fork. I really don’t want ...

Re: Steel frame and forks.

The choice of brakes could be the deciding factor for the frame choice. Obviously a different beast, but my On-One pompino (for me) rides beautifully, just feels perfect- my Spa Tourer (although good) doesn't feel quite as good to me. If On/ One/Planet X had an all steel version of the pompino with ...

Re: Road closure 'Road traffic regulation act 1984' no pedestrian access

I recall a cyclist telling me he'd been able to ride along several miles of the M25 before it was opened!
Certainly wouldn't want to do it after it was opened, illegal or otherwise

Re: Road closure 'Road traffic regulation act 1984' no pedestrian access

When there are road closure notices and signs to say the road is closed it often isn't - in most cases you can usually get through. Especially at weekends I was 'caught out' by one last year - country lane with sign 'road closed'. "I'll be able to get through on the grass verge " thought ...

Re: Why you should wear a helmet (when nicking bikes)

Hmm - I wonder if a transfer on the bike with the words "tracker fitted" would deter theft (or it may act as a challenge to them?)

Re: Five speed freewheels; then and now.

Shimano airlines was promoted on their website for YEARS and was indeed given away more-or-less on the end. Now it seems to be quite valuable, despite being essentially pointless. A quick search revealed what Shimano Airlines was - A few minutes ago I thought Shimano had entered Virgin/Easyjet busi...

Re: UN55 BBs not so good anymore?

My apologies if this has already been stated, but with sealed BB's how is it possible to get more lubrication into the bearings without taking a risk of either 1) damaging the external seals or 2) drilling a hole in the sleeve? 2 is presumably easier with a carbon sleeve, but drilling any sleeve run...

Re: Alliance of British Drivers

Does it have something to do with legislation? There is anti-discrimination legislation, black or gay people are specifically protected I think Would the cops would be interested if someone made a 'joke' about killing policepersons? When I followed up my original complaint to Met police about the T...

I must check if it is City or Met, then I shall mail the cops Good luck with that... (see my earlier post re Incitement to murder and the Times article) which was ignored by Police. An earlier one regarding another so-called reported was acted on by Police, who gave him stern words but were unable ...

I've had non-folding tyres where the rubber has exposed the wire a little, allowing the wire to rust - Not a problem with folding ones! :D
