Re: Recovery time when getting older

If you haven't had a medical recently I'd suggest a visit to your Dr just as a precaution. Milk is a pretty good post-ride recovery food. I'd think you probably need to be doing at least three rides a week to maintain fitness. Try, after a big ride do a short easy ride the next day, followed by a re...

Re: New to recumbent

Have a look at the Azub website, they have some interesting comments on tiller vs USS. A 2.00x20 tyre with low pressure will cope with pretty much anything and still be pretty fast.

Re: Helmet

I use a cheap Aldi helmet (meets the legal requirements in Australia) and hacked my headrest into a neck rest using a short length of pool noodle, some thin foam and a cover. Works well for me. [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Re: Recumbent trike transport by car

The Collier rack looks like a good simple solution. One thing to consider is the length of the trike compared to the width of your car. If the trike sticks out past the sides of your car too much you can risk damaging it.

Re: Which Bar End Shifters?

I have Microshift bar end shifters that match my 10 speed Shimano MTB cluster and long derailleur - BS-M10 I think. They work well to my mind. According to the Microshift website their road bar end shifters are compatible with Shimano road mechs.

Re: Exercise Induced Asthma

One of my kid's asthma first revealed itself as coughing. I'd recommend you get a medical diagnosis. A preventer puffer used regularly during seasons that trouble you may be the best treatment, with keeping ventalin type puffers for when you have a bad attack. Ask your doctor, and don't hesitate to ...

Re: What Age Can I Expect to Become Sensible?

Well I'm 62 and I managed to tip my recumbent trike over a couple of months ago and lost enough skin off my elbow to need three stitches. So, it's not at 62. I think though you do get better at recognising when you aren't being sensible. [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Re: Safer on a recumbent?

I reckon cars give my recumbent trike more room than a bike. Another bloke here who rides a recumbent bike as well as his trike reckons he gets more respect from cars when he is on his recumbent trike.
