Hi,
Would anyone have any suggestions for a 36 hole 650B rim that is tubeless compatible (UST). I've seen the velocity A23 but at over $100 it's a little more than I was hoping to pay. The combination of 36 hole and UST seems to reduce the availability considerably.
The 36 hole is a requirement as I was hoping to use the rim with a SA X-FD hub which I believe is only made in 36 hole.

Just for balance I reckon I've had about 8 punctures in a pair of Hypers in a shade less than 2,000 miles on a similar mix of on and off road. The majority being caused by small pieces of flint picked up on wet roads.

Re: Position
Thank you for the offer, Harrogate is a bit of a trek for me but I'd certainly be interested if I find myself in the area.
I like the idea of the model with the slacker head angle to reduce reach, it's certainly easier to adapt reach with a longer stem rather than ending up changing bar shape to get it shorter. I'm guessing the long wheelbase and slack angles should make for a very stable ride.

Re: Position
Thanks for the information and picture, it certainly ticks a lot of the right geometry boxes.

Re: Position
The Roughstuff bike was never going to be a big seller, and i specified 71 degrees on that
No chance of seeing this evolve with longer chainstays and capacity for 40C+ tyres with mudguards ?
It seems a market only served by the likes of Rivendell.

One option.

A little over budget at full price. I've used the shorts from that range and they seem to be wearing OK.
Or possibly these which come in budget.

Re: Electronic Shifting
You could likely make a cheap utilitarian version. Something with the electronics and battery in a single enclosure and bar mounted waterproof push buttons. The sort of thing which could be retro fitted to any bar shape and easy and cheap enough to discard faulty or damaged components.
I suspect at present the price is held high by Shimano wanting to recover their development costs and not wanting to damage the perception of it being a premium product.

Re: Vittoria Hypers (again)
I'm using these in 700c size and have looked around but don't seem to be able to find an equivalent in 26" (559). Any suggestions for an alternative ?

Re: Garmin 800 won't connect to computer, connectors corroded?
I had a similar problem with an Edge 25 a few weeks back after the Windows 10 anniversary update. The problem has since resolved itself, although I'm not sure whether the cure was from a Garmin update or another Windows update.
If you're a Windows 10 user this may be of help.

Re: Smartphone GPS Tracking
It is a little less than I'd like but I assume that Garmin traded battery life for keeping the size small. Most times it's OK if I remember to turn it off whilst off the bike.
The benefit of not having to mount my phone on the handlebars and the easy addition of the Garmin cadence and heart rate sensors made it the better choice for me. (applies only with Edge 25 not the Edge 20)

Re: Smartphone GPS Tracking
Edge 25 user and happy with the device, however a couple of things that could be better.
The battery life at around 8 hours is a little short and the charging is via a special connector rather than a standard USB.
The GPS signal does seem to be lost occasionally due to trees, the device keeps tracking but speed fluctuates.
As Mick said easy to swap between bikes or small enough to leave in your pocket if not mounted to the bike.

Re: Di2 Questions
Not sure if it's what you meant by old Di2 but the DA Di2 system has used two different versions of electronics and cabling systems in it's history.

Re: Electric gear change (on the cheap)
An Ultegra di2 rear only system can be cobbled together from.
ST6770 rear shifter module
SM-EW67-A-E Power indicator / reset module
SM-BMR1 Batter mount PSU module
RD-6770 rear changer.
Just add a battery and a couple of micro switches for up and down shift. Also a cable is handy for the plug to the rear changer.
