At that speed it would have been as simple to stop rather than drive in the gutter.

Re: Cal-Mac sunday sailings

I wonder how many of the islanders who think teh Sabbath (no! not the Black one!) should be respected go into the pubs that open on Sundays? :D

....How about when it was so quiet, that your kids could play outside without the threat of traffic blasting past them?.... But these islanders don't even want that to happen - they lock the gate into teh play area and the swings are even locked up just in case anyone should climb over the gate/fen...

3rd party insurance is included with your membership of the CTC. This can be upgraded if you wish to fully comp. I have also seen leaflets in Halfords for cycle insurance.

Re: Cyclist fined

....Last week a police 4wd stopped just past me and the passenger told me I shouldn't be waiting at a pedestrian crossing on a bike. It was a toucan crossing, with green bicycle as well as a green man, connecting 2 on-pavement green surfaced cyclepaths with large white bicycles painted on them. It'...

Re: Cal-Mac sunday sailings

This was being discussed on teh Jeremy Vine show yesterday. Apparently some on the island are so into keeping Sundays sacred they even padlock up the swings & play areas so kids cannot play on them on Sundays! Surely teh best way to stop teh Sunday sailings is simply not to use them if the ferry...

Re: Police car chase...

My only concern wit this incident is the "None of your business" quote. It most certainly is the business of the general public. Correct training methods but a very poor attitude from the Police when asked about it!

It can be so dangerous to stop when there is nothing coming - just asking to be hit from behind! Year 6 pupils are not stupid, they can understand why s...

Some of the SAS and all of the NDIS courses do recognise that and have an on-road element where the trainer should be addressing the individual needs of the delegates.

Re: Oxford - London Road Cycle Lane

Personally I wouldn't want to be on the cycle path. Too much stop-starting having to give way at side roads, I would rather be on teh road where I have priority over the vehicles emerging from side roads. I wouldn't feel comfortable cycling much more than 10mph in an environment where I am mixing wi...

....Driver should be banned for life, From the linked article: These images show the scene after a woman, in her 30s, fell under the front wheel of the lorry as it turned left from Clapham Road into Harleyford Street, by Oval Tube station. So she wasn't even sideswiped / blindspot crawling by the s...

Re: Oxford - London Road Cycle Lane

Managed to divert a training session along the road yesterday. At first glance I don't really see why there is any fuss about it. Bikes are still allowed in the bus lane as far as I can see and there is a combined cycle/footpath so cyclists have the choice of using either.
