Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Is there a summary for the plans to date and the next planned get together, skimmed through the posts couldn't see one. If anyone is in the midlands area and wants to come on a training ride let me know, I am going to be organising one shortly for some people in a charity event I am organising from ...

Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )

Read through the posts, we have a bit of a community thing going on. Camping weekend and 50 mile ride 2 weeks ago was great fun. Good company, good food, nice beer, weird campsite ... Linda and Jules are now fully engaged in entertaining places to escape smelly cyclists ! Future events before the g...

Re: Raleigh All Steel Bike restore or not

Leave it alone. It is in superb condition for a bicycle of this age. It has the patina of age so sought after by collectors these days. Take it to EROICA style events and 40's Festival weekends and just enjoy it .... "Its a cracker"... As my uncle would say in his broad Belfast accent ......

Raleigh All Steel Bike restore or not

HI All, I am restoring a raleigh all steel bike below I would rather leave it original as much as possible, i don't mind the rims not being perfect chromed the only thing I was going to do was: 1. rechrome the brake levers. - bought replacement brake blocks 2. Finish the cleanup of mudguards - add n...

Re: Bike Computer/GPS - Sunshade

On my android phone I deal with the reflection/glare issue by using a Matt screen protector. I'd agree that in bright sunshine it's sometimes necessary to shade the screen. I've owned Garmin's and Bryton in the past and found it necessary to have the backlight on to get decent contrast in bright su...

Re: Shimano Shado Plus Clutch Derailleur - compatibility

For mountain biking they are great, your chain is way quieter, doesn't slap all over the place and less likely to jump off. For road use, not very suitable at all I'd say - they make down shifting on the casette really stiff, quite unpleasant really. Hi Guys, thanks for the replies, I think I am go...

Re: Shimano Shado Plus Clutch Derailleur - compatibility

you need to say what shifters you have on your bike, and ideally which model XT mech you presently have too. BTW you may be barking up the wrong tree here; IIRC the clutch in a 'clutch mech' has a one-way damper in the lower pivot. This controls the chain flapping up and down when you are going ove...

Shimano Shado Plus Clutch Derailleur - compatibility

Hi All, not being a mountainbiker - clutch derailliurs are not something I have used before, however I am looking at trying one out on my touring bike which has an FC-M780 10 speed crankset with a deore XT rear derailleur - any clues as to what Shadown Plus Clutch from shimano will work, and is the ...

Re: Isle of Wight route advice for 2 day not-too-challenging ride

Hiya, did a circumnavigation of it on December 20th 2014 - good ride - got away with really bad weather although the needles we hit wind and both literally got blown clean off our bikes (but you should visit them) lol, my mascott came off and I literally watched him fly out to see in the wind ..... ...

Re: Saddle advice

I find Brooks a mixed blessing....................As your sit bones create indents then the centre of the saddle can create a ridge. Jobst Brandt called them Ass hatchets.................... Adjusting the tension nut will address this problem, but not 100% and not forever - eventually you'll run ou...
