Re: Stronge frame road bike

I'm extremely heavy at 255 and commute fine on a Sportive bike. My road bikes fail to disintegrate under my lardy bum. The only fly in the ointments are carbon frames. I've not found a manufacturer yet would will honour the warranty for a rider over 105kg. I can't see why you need a stronger frame. ...

Re: Does Thee Grease Thy QR Skewers?

Yes even the titanium ones. The inner face of the axle can still rust and make a Ti skewer difficult to remove.

Re: Police Thugs

Apart from when I was in the Army, and odd periods off for illness etc, I've ridden daily since aged 4 and never been stopped by the Dibble. Been driving a car for 27 years and never been stopped. Was stopped once on my motorbike when is a in my early 20s, but then I had been spotted popping a wheel...

Were still on bst, so the sun isn't overhead at midday. Were we on gnaw then not only would day and night have been the same length but the timing of dawn and dusk would be virtually the same at each end of the day.

Re: Why Are You Not Wearling a Helmet?

The Commisions are unelected by the public, there is no public accountability for either their appointment or their actions. The public can not vote to appoint them, and can not remove them by voting for someone else. They are unelected, and by any sensible definition of the term are undemocratic. H...

Re: Why Are You Not Wearling a Helmet?

I doubt such a law will ever come, if only for purely pragmatic reasons. M[vimeo][/vimeo]ost existing legislation from lighting to RLJ ing is largely unenforceable, so it seems unlikely we'll have another unenforceable law foisted upon us. That said, there is one risk that it might, and that's the u...

Re: Police Thugs

Surely it would be easier and cheaper for the CTC to get that guidance from a solicitor? Its all held in the standard legal texts such as Calverts or Blackstones, it'd be simple for a solicitor to guide them to the relevant pages.

Re: Why Are You Not Wearling a Helmet?

I don think helmet wearers should be pressured not to wear lids, and non lid wearers should not be pressured to wear one, just so long as both are educated in the pros and cons and has made their decision. I say good on them regardless of their head attire, or otherwise. Cycling is under enough pres...

I've given up reporting them round here. The standard reply, to some quite shocking holes or damage, is "already scheduled for future repair." The fact that someone could be hurt in the mean time just doesn't seem to register with Northamptonshire County Council Highways department.

Re: Why do we do it?

I saw a lorry carrying half a dozen brand new Peugeots jump a red light this morning. Because I was also driving a truck, albeit a much smaller one, I felt embarrased. Not. I just mumbled "chump" under my breath and away he went. Any person or group foolish enough to tar an entire section ...

Recently bought Mrs Dopestrong a Pendleton Initial road bike. It's a proper wee thing for the money.
