Re: Jihadi Brides and their Children.

Whatever she is, she ain't British no more. If she's a problem with that she should've stayed home.

Re: All had helmets

I have the same problem. I can't get insurance to teach unless my delegates all wear lids. To be fair though, I also teach off road skills, defensive tactics etc, so the chances of a blow to the noggin are much higher, so in the eyes if the insurers the risk is so much the greater.

Re: All had helmets

When I were a lad I climbed trees, played unsupervised with a bow and arrow, and used to entertain myself by sticking bullets in my Dad's vice and lighting them off with a hammer (ammo from the war and the likes was still in circulation-a-plenty back then), all before I was double digit age. I also ...

Re: Just venting (advice from a stranger)

I'd have replied... "...keep dodging those coffins!" Should she not be terribly old then... "...I do wish your wear a bag on your head" would have been a satisfying instant riposte. You can't teach dumb, and peole with such entrenched and uninformed views will never change their ...

Re: A long-awaited volte face?

I personally would resent paying a single penny more when large corporations are being allowed to negotiate their yearly tax bill with the revenue. When they stop letting the tail wag the dog at the top end of the financial food chain, then I won't mind them chiselling some extra shekels out of me. ...

Re: Getting Honked at in London

That's a junction which has had a problem with abusive motorists and inactive police for so long that there's also provision for a hook turn if you prefer: stay left, cycle straight ahead in the marked cycle lane until almost across the junction, then pull left into CS2, turn right to face the dire...

Re: Di2 - A technology too far?

That's a good point. Restoring a 100 year old bike presents few insurmountable problems. In 100 years where will people find working computers with the necessary operating systems to work on Di2? Not a big deal in any way, just another strand of thought jn the broad church that is cycling. One thing...

Evem if he's found guilty and sentenced to death by firing squad not a single voter will change their mind. Only Remainers care about it, and they never followed Boris'advice anyway.

Re: A technology too far?

There's a lot been written on here about the advantages of compressionless outers,IME there ain't a lot of difference between them and quality spiral wound ordinary outers with a PTFE(?) Inner sheath. My own experience is, respectfully, somewhat at odds with that. Back in the day running a fleet of...

Re: A technology too far?

A friend with hand flexibility and strength issues, bought a new bike with Di2 and hydraulic discs. She can now ride 50 miles without hand pain. So in this case Di2 and hydros are like raising your bars and putting on lower gears. Whereas I have no feeling in two fingers and the lower portion of my...

Re: A long-awaited volte face?

I must say, if that's the trend I welcome it. Aside from the saving made by not having to pay profit to shareholders, the councils have direct control over quality and efficiency. Best of all, they're not tied to a contract for X years, so if it suddenly becomes necessary for dustmen to repaint park...
