Re: Route for East Coast of Britain?

Why one of these options would you recommend? I've stuck this into cycle.travel and made a few tweaks which I think I'd be pretty happy doing myself: http://cycle.travel/map/journey/51286 I've started you at Gravesend. I don't really know about London to there but it might be worth getting a train ...

Re: Route for East Coast of Britain?

When you say London to Brighton did you mean including via Dover? If to Dover then route one but with diversion from Whitstable to follow the coast around to sandwich on the viking trail is good ( well once you're through Rochester). If you went direct London to Brighton if you don't mind adding som...

Re: JogLe sight seeing

... Is anyone aware that Edinburgh is west of London? ... I'm not surprised that it's to the west of London because the "amazing fact" I've usually seen quoted is that it's to the west of Liverpool. Since the End-to-End ride is pretty much as described, just about anywhere in the mainland...

Re: Suggestions for 100ish miles route

Was going to possibly suggest Hadrian's. You get the fun of doing a coast to coast but it's probably the easist one. A few short climbs around vindolanda area but nothing awful.

Re: 50% off certain East Coast Virgin trains

Sorry to disappoint you captain but in my experience they are pretty punctual. Glad you've had positive experience. On my trip to Scotland and back a couple of weeks ago was delayed both ways enough to claim a refund - the return trip Aberdeen to London they just stopped the train at York due to la...

Re: Ebsfleet to Ramsgate return route

As some of the others have hinted the first few miles from Ebbsfleet through the Medway towns isn't that pretty and that you might think about some minor changes. My suggestion would indeed be to carry on to Ashford and start/finish there. From Ashford you can follow route 18 to Canterbury (cycle pa...

Hants Wilts and Dorset

Hi all,

Not a particularly great or special ride but here's a little write up of a day ride I did last month around the edge of the New Forest and Cranborne Chase through Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Cheers

Don't you get 50% off most of their trains anyway once you've claimed the refund for their running late?

Re: Inverness and North

Thanks TIm - thats' s handy info. 80 minutes sounds reasonable; I guess I'd thought the trips were a bit more throughout the day rather than just once or twice a day. I'd certainly be doing well if I made it there by 12:30 ;-) It might have the be the following morning - but that's cool

Re: Inverness and North

Moonbeam - Many thanks for the tips. If I do make the Cromarty ferry I'll probably pass on the cut back to Struie as I'll probably have enough miles under the belt on that day; but if the legs are feelign good and the wind is favourable I'll bear that in mind. Chanonry Point sounds like a great tip ...

Re: Lon Las Cymru

No, unfortunately not. I'll take it to my bike shop tomorrow (he's closed today) and I had an advance rail ticket so not refundable. Police/ambulance were called and everything and apparently there is dash cam footage, driver was at fault so will likely be prosecuted. Hopefully should be able to cl...
