Re: Which lubricant for my chain?

This might be wrong or right, but it's what I do: Run chain through a chain cleaner twice (using citrus degreaser or diluted fairy liquid). Rinse off the detergent by gently trickling a jug of water over the cassette and chainset while slowly back pedalling by hand (I do this with the bike leant to ...

Re: How do you keep hands and feet warm enough to function?

Ski gloves, waterproof overshoes with some toe warmers shoved in on top of my toes :D

Got the footwarmers as an experiment and they really do work.

Made out of activated carbon and about 70p per pair.

..of a good site to plan routes on?

Hi, Google maps is great because when getting directions and clicking the bicycle option you get a cool little chart showing the altitude and when you hover over the peaks it highlights that particular area on the map, which is great for planning out where to take rest stops (ideally before big hill...

Hey progressive, Glad to hear you'll be doing this route too! As an update, we've started with the bookings.. Eurovelo route 15 - please comment on our plans!

Hi Two of us intend to ride most of this route in late spring next year. We've already booked the time off work and have 3 weeks from 13th April. We're looking at getting a plane with our bikes to Basel and then riding northwest along the Rhine (route 15) through to Holland and either getting a plan...

Re: Front derailleur advice needed

10s chainrings are not much differently spaced than 7s ones so you don't need to worry about that too much. However a 10s front mech may well have a slightly narrower cage than your old 7s front mech, and if so you may find it difficult to set the front mech up so that you are not having to trim it...

Front derailleur advice needed

First post so hi! My gearing consists of a 7 speed triple with the Sram 1:1 actuation ratio. I'm aware that the front derailleur is easier to switch but what about the actual travel? Can a 10 speed triple front derailleur designed for a modern, narrow chain cover the same distance as my chainrings? ...
