Re: Where can I get a decent jacket?

Thanks for the tips everyone, I took on board what people were saying regarding visibility.

Just ordered this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010 ... p193_d0_i1

Brightly coloured for the riding then flip it around upon arrival :D

Re: Where can I get a decent jacket?

Thanks for the replies folks. Waterproof jacket and trousers are already in the panniers, I have a pearl izuma cycling jersey which isn't that windproof but did the job, but unfortunately I'm a bit too chubby for it now. I like the look of this one in navy but figured it's probably quite heavy and m...

Where can I get a decent jacket?

Hi Tourers I'm after a decent windproof jacket for touring and casual wear when off the bike. Something that isn't brightly coloured but has reflective bits that are concealable will be nice. I saw a nice one on CRC but it was £100, reduced from £200 which is out of my budget. Something in the £50 r...

Re: Rain

Great replies everyone thanks for contributing :D I have a good set of waterproof cycling trousers and good waterproof jacket. My overshoes got torn on the bottom in my last tour and I've bought replacement but stupidly bought neoprene cold weather ones rather than waterproof ones (they're labelled ...

Rain

Hi tourers The last 2 tours consisted of the weather gods smiling upon me: 19 day tour across England, Holland, Germany and Belgium = 1 wet day, which consisted of a rainy start then on off drizzle during the day. Apart from that it was mostly sunny. 4 day tour across the South West = 1 rainy aftern...

Re: Cinelli hobootleg with columbus rustproof steel

I have one if these and it is a fantastic tourer, fast too.

Unfortunately I have no idea about the rustproofing apart from what I read on tye cinelli website.

I paid a grand for the 2015 model and the 2016 model is identical apart from a different looking front shifter and is 200 pounds cheaper!

Re: How to fix? - Derailleur got chewed!

Plenty of advice has been offered, just try and bend it back with a big adjustable and if that fails take it to a professional bike mechanic to sort out.

Whatever happens please keep us updated!

Re: Black Friday cycling deals anyone?

Well I caved in on Sunday and bought some shorts for £20, toe warmers for a tenner and heavy duty overshoes for about £15. Justification: Shorts: I have 3 pairs, 1 expensive and 2 dirt cheap. Guess which pair gets washed and dried in time for the next day? The cheap ones are fine for a short ride bu...

What is the sizing like on Lusso bib tights? I'm a bit chubbier round the middle now, 5ft 10 with a 34 waist and the specialized ones I have are too tight down below.

Re: Black Friday cycling deals anyone?

It seems that Black Friday has spanned most of November so far, every bike etailer I've ever purchased something from is doing it and the actual deals are average.

Black Friday is just a Christmas sale now.

Re: Buying advice - the elusive 'do-it-all' bike

How about one of these in extra small? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cinelli-hobootleg-2016/ Pretty much goes anywhere fast and is actually quite good on the road (you did say your club rides were laid back). It was designed to reliably go through the middle of nowhere fast. Had mine 4 months and absolute...

Re: Why so many gears?

I'd much rather have gears I don't use rather than lack gears I need. With a wide ranging ratio having lots of gears is great because I can adjust the gears to suit my cadence as the terrain dictates. This does mean I'm changing up and down frequently but the upside is I'm maintaining a consistent a...

Re: Will this fit?

Hi tourers Just looking at front panniers and I was wondering if an Ortleib front roller pannier will be able to accommodate a Vango Ultralite 900 sleeping bag? According to Wiggle the panniers are 30 x 25 x 14cm. Roughly measured the compressed my bag is 39 x 20 x 20cm. I'm inclined to say no, but...

Re: Do I need to buy this giant defy?

Giants, very popular over here... great on smooth roads, very stiff and unwieldy comfort wise on anything else ime, they seem totally focused on having a front steerer and fork that there's no give at all in the front end therefore much of the buzz and NVH goes right up your arms into the shoulders ...

Re: Will this fit?

My guess would be yes - I have that pannier but not that sleeping bag. But if it doesn't you can always return it to Wiggle as long as you keep the packaging intact. Ortliebs usually allow for extra stuff to be squeezed in (though you have to make sure you can roll the tops 2-3 times to keep water ...
