I use the orange Michelin maps for wider areas, what else I use will depend on the form of my trip. If you are doing mostly a to b riding it's usually easy enough to wing it providing you know the towns you want to pass through. (a simple list can be used as a reminder) ..... yeah i wouldnt be averse to getting a bus elsewhere to buy one. might be a hassle, but id do it if i had to.

very good point. im sure there will be good roads, which i will obviously try to take. but on every tour there comes a point where you have no choice or go the wrong way. for which i will need some reliable wheels. at the moment, i am still working out which route exactly to take. so maybe this can ...

that said, ive just realised im also on a 10 speed cassette. as it turns out, having a nice new bike with modern tech isnt always such a great thing.

thanks for the replies. As i suspected, I may need to get some new heavyweight wheels and fit some bigger tyres when I get to turkey or something. getting the bike serviced at this point will no doubt be a good idea too. if take spare spokes, hope for the best. I feel like i can get away with the 70...

Im cycling from bergen to oslo in july, and im having trouble finding a map which is detailed enough for cycling. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good website for me? I dont have a gps. im talking paper!

i think i might just invest in a ctc bike bag, and get the tgv via paris home. i can attempt to pack it up, wheel either side of the frame, bars and saddle down. it should come in under the 120x90cm size limit. i was considering a proper bike bag but i just dont know how you are supposed to transpor...
