Re: geneva to nice

Thanks for the info! and there was me thinking i could just get on the train. part of the reason i chose this route was for sake of ease and not having to stick the bike on a plane. I will look into this further

Re: how on earth can a brooks be the go to touring saddle?

I made the mistake of flipping the bike upside down to wash it ( its easier to do the drivetrain) so i managed to collect a nice big puddle of water in the saddle's under side. I only realised what I had done once I was down the road on my shiney clean bike when the saddle started to sink. luckily I...

How can a Brooks be the preferred touring saddle?

I bought a brooks about a month ago after being subject to extensive recommendations and very strong marketing campaigns. Anyway, I parted with my cash, all £82 of it, and this morning whilst washing my bike, I have discovered its not a good idea to get the saddle wet. The saddle is still breaking i...

Re: touring and flying with hydraulic disc brakes

I have decided to go for shimano's fully mechanical BR-R317 brakes.

Go on, tell me I've made the wrong choice.

Re: touring and flying with hydraulic disc brakes

Well it looks like my post caused a bit of a stir. Shouldve known. Im not worrying about it by any means, I quite like a risk. The last 3 trips (admittedly in summer) I slept in a hammock, didnt take a tarp or a tent. If it rains one day, deal with it. But no hotels allowed! Anyway its just that if ...

touring and flying with hydraulic disc brakes

Hello, I am currently in the process of building up a tourer using a croix de fer frame. The man in the bike shop couldnt understand why I wanted canti brakes, and they dont fit on the frame anyway. I guess i can go with cable disc brakes...But do any of you have any thoughts on using hydraulic disc...

Cinelli hobootleg with columbus rustproof steel

has anyone got one of these http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cin ... e-ec057665

I am interested in this "rust proof steel", has it been treated somehow? i know rust isnt really a huge problem anyway (steel bikes last forever) but why arent all steel bikes using this?

Re: october tour sleeping bag

ive only really used the smaller bag in summer before so im not sure how it would hold up. ive got to say its pretty thin! maybe my silk liner would help. Its the age old debate really isnt it. ive always thought warm clothes are probably valuable than a big bag but either way you are carrying extra...
