Re: sealskinz waterproof socks: does anyone tried it?

SealSkinz socks = Good. Not perfect as stated above, but fine (for me) all day cycling or walking.

SealSkinz 'waterproof' cycling gloves = Crap. NOT water proof.....if the rain doesn't get you the sweat will...AVOID !!...

Re: Central heating: is a magnetic filter necessary?

Answer = Yes....BUT, only after having the system power flushed.

Don't just bung it onto a system that is already full of crap....a complete waste of time and money.

I'm a retired British Gas support engineer....Forty long long long years of it, and so so so glad it's all behind me !!!... :D

Re: Floating Rotors

I have used them on various motorbikes for donkey's years...Zero problems. Not QUITE the same as push bikes but I really can't see a problem... Which is really like me saying I can't see a problem with ordinary one piece rotors,I pull on the lever(with never more than two fingers and more often tha...

Re: Advise on decent Waterproofs Please - Avoiding Clammy et

Another Paramo user here.....I have three of their jackets, they MIGHT not be the best but they are the best that I have used. For cycling I use the Fuera jacket. It is definitely NOT waterproof but it is not sold as waterproof....it is sold as a windproof and as such it's very good, with excellent ...

Re: Can a bicycle live forever?

Three months ago I actually set out to build a bike that was as indestructible as I could come up with. I've gone Surly Troll/Rohloff, with various bits from... Shimano XT/Thomson/Brookes/Middleburn/Chris King/Schmidt and Muller/Topeak/Shwalbe/.....and I've ended up with a bike that would never win ...

Re: Dynohub wheel - too good to be true?

Busy thinking about wiring routes for the rear light now :) I have JUST wired up a rear rack mount dyno light. When I had finished (with everything nicely zip tied and wires cut to size) I realised that I should have put some sort of 'disconnection point' somewhere to allow the rack to be removed (...

Re: chain ocd

1) traffic film remover cleans the chain and cogs a treat. Of course they get washed and oiled afterwards. Any reason not to use it? 2) how often do you clean yours? I used to be a chain [derogatory word removed], you know, once or twice a month all that. Now I find myself driven to clean it...

Re: Halfords Rant - Complete Spoke Failure

I know of two cases....Brand new bikes bought from Halfords, both returned within HOURS due to poor pre sale/delivery preparation. They were both bought by people who were not really into bikes and thought that they would be looked after by a major player like Halfords. I only got my hands on one of...
