Re: Furlough'd Footballers

McLaren (the F1 and sports car manufacturing company) have done the same - for staff NOT the F1 drivers, they have taken a pay cut.

It just seems to me that this isn't how the 'support' was envisaged being used.

Re: Corporate (Mis)Behavior

Centrica - possibly the first of the 'Big Six' to go down - pulled their 2019 final dividend last week. Despite being a shareholder I thought that it was the correct decision. If a business is going to fail then it fails and the others in that market gobble up the customers. That's shirley (don't..)...

Re: TV licensing...

I'm sure that this question has been answered somewhere in this thread but I can't be bothered trawling through the whole thing, so..... My mate (really) has no TV and no TV license, he hasn't had either for years. He has recently started watching the Joe Wicks LIVE streams, on his laptop, on YouTub...

Re: Money during Covid

With respect, get used to it. It is the way it's going and it suits me just fine. I was once roundly told off for using the words "with respect" to start off a post. I was told it was extremely rude and tantamount to trolling. Perhaps you should consider this. And lay off the patronising!...

Re: Money during Covid

I've heard a lot of places are either doing that or thinking of doing it. Won't be good for the elderly even if they do make it to the shops before they've been stripped. With respect, get used to it. It is the way it's going and it suits me just fine. I have been using ApplePay for over two years ...

Re: Sturmey NIG 3s hub; what to look out for, what breaks.

when i look at the exploded diagrams to my mind's eye they look very complicated parts wise to shift between three gears. i'm just plain wrong with that idea i suppose? I would agree that the exploded parts lists and diagrams, though accurate, do make the hubs look very complicated. But, if you are...

Re: Disc brakes vs V brakes

To add. I originally built the bike with Avid BB7s which were poor compared to the hydraulics. In fact I didn't like them one bit . This I find interesting as my experience of BB7's is very positive even on tandems, albeit with 203mm rotors, though never needed more than 160mm rotors on solos. I've b...

The Surly Troll is designed (frame and fork) to use rim or disc brakes.

Re: Disc brakes vs V brakes

I have personally used Shimano XT and Hope Tech3 V2 hydraulic disc brakes on my 2015 Surly Troll. There wasn't much is their performance and if I was buying again I would go for the Shimano XTs as they are (were) so much cheaper than Hope brakes. The XTs were simple to fit and maintain and were bril...
