Re: Mafac bolts and bushes

I think someone got there before you. To be competitive you are going to have to beat their prices (+ import duty and VAT of course):

Re: Shropshire

I'm lucky to live in Shropshire and my advice is to avoid the A49 and just meander on the back road. The hills to the west of Church Stretton will really give you a work out but going east is a little easier but just as picturesque. How about riding east to Much Wenlock along the Wenlock edge, visit...

Jura cycling clothing

I have used 100% merino wool cycling jerseys from these people for a few years now: http://www.juracycleclothing.co.uk/ Both for myself and others I have switched on to their great tops. They have always provided great, friendly service but the response to a recent order really shows they go above a...

Re: camera for touring

Have a look at the Fuji X100. I'm not sure about its ability to be USB charged but the mains charger it uses is very light. Photo taking ability cannot be faulted.

Re: Pannier question

Does the empty weight of the panniers exceed the empty weight of the rucksack? Do you REALLY carry the same weight in the rucksack as the panniers? (I know I carry less on the way to work when using a rucksack than the usual panniers) Although I agree, my commuter feels more sprightly when using a r...

Re: we are being coerced and fleeced

I too deplore change for change sake. I'm all for reliable simplicity (or at least rebuild-able simplicity). However if you look all the bits you are despairing of getting are there if you look (and in some cases want to pay for....) 8 speed cassettes http://www.interlocracing.com/cassettes-freewhee...

Slow wearing rims

My hilly, dirty back country commute is leading to quite high rim wear. Can anyone suggest a rim with a low wear rate that might give me better mileage? The current rim is a halo white line that my local bike shop put on and I suspect this is not the best I can choose. Please don't suggest cleaning ...

Re: Types of pads in shorts

I don't get it :? There's nothing to get really. I don't like man made fibres, my current shorts are wearing in holes from friction, I know what shorts I want to buy but value advice on the merits of different pad construction. I'm quite new to cycling, just been commuting for the last 8 years. I t...

Re: GARMIN TOURING

The mapping/routing software they have is dreadful. Use Cycle.Travel and upload your routes. If you need a link as to how to do this just shout...b I like cycle.travel routes and would love to do that. However so far I've been unable to get a route from there onto my touring handset. Using a MAC an...

Types of pads in shorts

Sadly my much loved woolistic merino shorts are beginning to wear through in various places. Even more sadly they don't appear to be available to buy a replacement at the moment. I have found a US company doing similar but they offer various different pads and I don't know what the differences would...

Re: cycle touring & keeping medication cool

When I was working as a community pharmacist these were what we suggested (same as the amazon link above): http://www.friouk.com/1119 They just need soaking in water and evaporation keeps the item cool. People who used them seemed very pleased with them. I second the suggestion that you check with a...
