Re: Soaking a chain in petrol
Thanks for all the interesting answers folks,i usually always keep my drivetrain in good order as I use by bike a lot but slipped a bit lately, thinking of it the chain is quite new so I think i'll just take it off and give it a scrub with some degreaser before going down the petrol route,i've thought about those chain cleaning devices in the past, food for thought there.

Soaking a chain in petrol
Hi folks ,my chain .chainrings and cassette need a good scrub as my bike is a daily user and I haven't been as up on the cleaning lately, anyway anyone soak their chain/cassette in petrol?(have some in a can that's why i'm asking),I seem to remember I did it before and it got a bit grumbly after and took a long time to get properly lubricated again,so is it a good idea?

Re: Tents for £200
I had a wildcountry tent for years and it was brilliant so when it came to a replacement I thought I would be loyal to them, bad move, the new tent had a snapped pole after a few nights and the stitching was terrible, gutted to see how much the quality had dropped,or maybe I was just unlucky.

Anyone taken their bicycle on the portsmouth-bilbao ferry?
Just browsing on Brittany ferries website for a ferry at the end of may and there is no bicycle option? there is the option when looking at Portsmouth -Santander ,I took my bike on the Santander-Portsmouth ferry when doing roscoff to Santander with no problems before ,so why isn't there the option for the bilbao route? .Only thinking things over at the moment so haven't phoned up to check, just thought i'd ask on here out of curiosity really.

Re: Water, weight and Filters
I've filled up my bottles out of the tap in French cemetaries tons of times, infact it became a regular thing to look out for them, found them very handy.and never had any ill effects what so ever.I just presumed that as it came from the tap it was plummed into the same source as all the other taps in the villages.
