Re: Is Trump Mad?

Not very nice campsites. One looked like it was trying to become good about 15 years ago and ran out of money. A great big kids playground that's now broken and unsafe. It doesn't look that old just never cared for.

Nope. Oban is somewhere you go to to get somewhere else IMHO.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Also makes me worried about the EU. One day it's a country. Mark my words it's a take over by the federalists already. Would be better if we had stayed in. Look at Belgium. A European treaty once nearly got scuppered because a small (iirc the smallest) region in Belgium was able to veto the Belgian ...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

Isn't that more to do with freedom of speech in USA than the level of racism? You can say it over there but over here you have to be circumspect. You can't call someone a dirty Jew but dirty Zionist is acceptable to some in UK politics apparently. If you doubt that then look to n the phrase "do...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

It's been reported about the antisemitism of one of the squad over here too. It's been reported that trump signed off a lot of money on infrastructure projects within the last few months. If you read a wide selection of news sources things like this come out. News sources such as Google news can oft...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

I had a weird dream once about how someone found out Trump was born outside of America but smuggled in as a baby. What's more he could prove it and Trump lost his job as POTUS. The supreme Court had to decide which of his laws and edicts stood and which got struck out. By the time that was close to...

Re: Winter or summer, which is worse?

Depends whether I'm at the end or beginning of a season. Early autumn is nice before I get sick of the wet, stormy weather. Early winter is nice with the fresh cold of morning but by the end I'm sick of the cold and it's feeling damp again. Early spring is nice with that first sunny day that nature ...

Re: Red means STOP! or How I began to hate cyclists.

Nobody remembers the positive only the negative. This is especially true concerning motorists and cyclists.

Good service wins a couple of new customers, bar service loses 10 new potential customers.

It's a known effect, we're a negative species!

Re: Letters: Help! The New Forest is becoming a suburban park

Never really noticed a rope cutting into a tree branch. Most are loose loops tied awkwardly with plenty of room for growth. Most ropes break down before they can be an issue to the tree ime. However Google things in trees and you'll see how nature copes. There's genuine images of trees growing aroun...

Re: Red means STOP! or How I began to hate cyclists.

You're right there but since when do motorists ever apply that much space? Real world there is passing space but you're likely to be closer than 1.5m gap. Personally I hate that road driving it in the car. Head eastwards in the morning you're often driving into sunrise. Driving westwards in the even...

Re: British warships in Gulf to be renamed AA and RAC

One more thing, there's probably some very high powered cars that are more frugal with fuel than those old classics with sub 100bhp ratings. That's before you're into hybrid and evs of course. Then there's type of driving. Top gear (that dodgy car show I don't actually like) did a trial. An audi A6 ...

Re: British warships in Gulf to be renamed AA and RAC

115bhp and 125bhp are not powerful vans. 170bhp are such as ford custom msport and the equivalent in other makes from citreon to vw. IIRC the 113bhp vivaro went up to 115 when the engine size dropped from 2.0 litre to 1.6 litre. At the same time fuel economy went up by a couple of mpg at least. The ...

Re: Red means STOP! or How I began to hate cyclists.

A660 - A65 - plenty of room if they hadn't been taking up the entire road. There was LESS room later on when passing the single file pack, but we still managed. FYI - my girlfriend was driving that day, Corsa - and she won't go near a cyclist unless there's at least 6 foot passing space. Aah! The m...

Re: Letters: Help! The New Forest is becoming a suburban park

Not us! We're the cyclists who buy multiple bikes and constantly indulge in rampant consumerism to keep our cycling hobby going. We've got bikes for commuting in winter, ones for summer, another for Sunday best club runs and touring bike. Then we hit into mountain biking. Downhill, xc and a hardtail...
