Re: Tree identification.

Could it be a type of American Sorbus species? My dad replaced 8 poplar trees with a few Rowan and an American sorbus. Both small habit and with less disruptive roots. Btw tree roots aren't always as you might expect. The poplar tends to root uphill with shorter roots the other way. That certainly w...

Re: Diplomatic Immunity?

With that attitude there would be no point in posting in political threads which are full of opinions and suggestions for better systems without the knowledge or experience to found those ideas on. Is it only certain topics you can express ideas or opinions on? People are only expressing views that ...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

Why should it be done through purely tax regime? Why not give straight discount for bikes and limit it? Why use tax thresholds? Why just bikes? Why not the Scandinavian system? That is totally fair and honest.

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

It is just like the scrapping credit for cars, moves cash, creates work, uses resources -1 Why would anyone want more than one cycle? Different cycling duties, different needs from bikes means more than one bike and generally new "bright and shiny" toy effect for big boys and girls...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

How many of your journeys on those were work commutes? Does anyone actually buy bikes through C2W for over 50% commuting duties? The scheme is unjust because it uses income and tax rates to give different discounts. It's flawed because it has no guaranteed way to encourage anything. Having said that...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

I understand about the unfairness of being just over a threshold but our household has two earners who have a combined probably below the threshold and we have to buy our bikes with less discount. Is that any fairer? Guess how many we've bought in 11 years? The answer is 1 and I couldn't get C2W any...

Re: Diplomatic Immunity?

I'm not talking about giving away immunity for such protective reasons as rogue states like Iran. I'm talking about countries with rule of law equivalent or more honest than your own nation's. As I would have it that if families, perhaps even diplomats themselves, break a local law that's got an equ...

Re: Should we be pushing for greater fairness in C2W?

Why not make it work based on lower tax rate? It's something that bothered me. If you're earning enough to be taxed at the higher rate you're on a good salary and probably able to save up to £1000 (unless you're living to your means to keep up with the Jones of course). So the government gives you a...

Re: Diplomatic Immunity?

Out of curiosity, why do families need to be with them? I know right to family life or something will be the answer. As an idea, if diplomats want family with them make it their choice but waiver the diplomatic immunity when local legal authorities arrest them for something that has equivalency in y...

Re: Child seat advice

I agree probably not possible with a FS bike. Still worth contacting hamax for advice. Personally I wouldn't even if you can. I mean you've got a bounce from the suspension and another from the seat suspension bars. The child might possibly get too much movement.

Re: Child seat advice

Hamax, like most seat grabs, supply a standard set of suspension bars. What's different about this brand is the aftermarket parts. They supply iirc three types if suspension bars to suit different bikes sizes and types. There's certainly a small bike/ user bars that bend in different places to go un...

Re: The tories priorities?

You're using a narrow definition of Tories I think. The Tories who voted for boris were the members. A vast majority of Tories aren't paid up members but they're still lifelong Tories. Only paid up members got to vote on the last two candidates. Don't tar us all with that brush there still the minor...

Re: The tories priorities?

The 649 other MPs in Westminster don't look too bothered neither judging by the lack of a VONC. In fact I don't see many marching in the streets to get rid of him neither. Has Brexit made the nation apathetic about MP misdemeanors? Do we just want it all over no matter what the cost then pick up the...

Re: The tories priorities?

You and I will always differ on this R2. Tory priorities aren't exactly what you claim. There's plenty of Tories who voted and campaigned strongly for remain. Iirc Tory party leadership was actively for remain during the referendum when Corbyn had a rather discrete campaign for remain. Indeed many o...
