Any family touring groups?

Simple really, are there any groups within CTC/CUK who cater for families on their tours? I'm new to touring with a young family and curious if the organization runs any groups or trips for families? It strikes me there's a social touring opportunity for the new all inclusive CUK.

Re: Podium Girls

Are there podium men for the women's races? Come to think of it,are there any women's races  ........ Why not have podium men for men's races? If there is nothing wrong with the image of podium men and women then is there an exemption for this role in equality laws that allows only men for wo...

Re: Podium Girls

Gainful employment? Perhaps stripping to your bikinis on a cold presentation platform to present your body and a trophy/medal/winners champagne bottle is gainful employment. They get paid it's a job. But what a job it is! It's about the female body, it must be or why have most of it uncovered? Of co...

Re: Podium Girls

Thing I get about sexism is how easy it is to brush aside the "small stuff" as nothing to bother about. The way some men, particularly from certain regions, use terms like "love" or "pet" towards complete strangers who are women is just one example. I've rarely heard a ...

Re: Whats the big deal about traveling abroad?

I used to do winter hillwalker (mountaineering perhaps) with a retired public school teacher. He used to head off climbing in remote places where you got there, bought a mule or donkey and headed off to explore new peaks for 6 weeks (plus best part of a week either side to get there and return home)...

Re: Podium Girls

There's a lot of sporting events that choose not to have podium girls. Or if they do have women, they're dressed more appropriate than in bikinis in a room or stage full of fully dressed people who are likely to be mostly men. Why do those sports do things differently? Do they possibly feel it's ina...

Re: Podium Girls

@Karla It's a too late at school age, it really is. Any parent, who thinks about gender defining of their children, will notice it happening from IIRC about 2.5 years. If you try not to define gender by say colour or type of toy at home it all comes down at nursery or their friend's place. They soak...

Re: Podium Girls

Can anyone say the Olympics isn't an exaltation of sport? I do believe the closest thing to podium girls are women in designed promotional suit (skirt suit if female, trouser suit if male l. Usually there's one male and one female for each medal presentation with women carrying the flowers. If I rem...

Re: Podium Girls

This thread has taken the typical journey of such topics. Podium girls People jumping in to say how bad it is these days. A few comments about how it wouldn't happen with men. A few comments about appreciating beauty - often the inclusion of male eye candy gets brought in now to counter the above co...

Re: Podium Girls

I have a female relative who rose about 5 levels in a service sector whilst being in the prime child bearing age group (financially if not reproductively). Took maternity, twice and had no trouble getting back on her old pay and role. She changed career and left that job within a year of coming back...

Re: Podium Girls

What is the reason behind podium girls? What do they do? What does their presence add to the spectacle? On the first page of this forum there was a picture with 4 bikini clad lasses who looked cold and unhappy. I'm not sure many were really paying much attention to them so they added nothing much IM...

Re: What do you value in membership of CTC/CUK?

I just repeated the membership benefit search. If CUK has negotiated member's discounts at any store chain it's keeping it quiet. I'm not sure if that is because you can't get discounts or just because the website isn't that good. I say that because simple things like the "search this site"...

Re: Whats the big deal about traveling abroad?

I suspect all that stuff will do is give people a better idea of where to go. Say you want to go to Rome. Once you read all the guides and studied city tourism maps. As good a job of planning as you manage you'll end up missing some gem. All the modern media and TV shows result in these gems coming ...

Re: Whats the big deal about traveling abroad?

Myself, I got a lot of fun just exploring/riding/walking the Crane/Hillingdon trail here in London - was a side to London I have never seen, no other way to see it & took me quite a few weeks Couldn't you have done that from the comfort of your home? Google maps and a bit of time on the interne...

What do you value in membership of CTC/CUK?

I'm thinking of signing my family up to this organization. We're not cycle tourers, just leisure cyclists, commuters and family rides. We are planning a summer cycle tour this year though. I'm curious as to what members benefits are worth the money. Other organizations you can join show obvious bene...
