Pherron,
A few years on and looking at getting a Luxos U. Have you got any info on how yours is running or any changes to the design and therefore reliability?
Maybe you're still active here?
Thanks!

Cycling Scotland???
I do agree that we should rebrand and have a name that reflects who we already are. However there is one problem that I see ( I hope I haven't missed the answer ) and that is that we used to have CTC Scotland up here, but that will presumably have changed?
But we already have Cycling Scotland who are not directly related with Cycling UK or CTC. So will it become Cycling UK-Scotland or what?
I'm sure this was considered but that in other areas of the UK there might be simmilar problems, so hopefully there will be an answer.
Maybe someone knows?

Pumping-up KMX tyres
Hi,
I have just finished fixing my friend's KMX. I had a big problem - it was impossible to get a pump onto the valves on the front wheel.
However I found this on SJS cycles' website! :
http://www.topeak.com/products/Pumps/Pressure-Rite.
It is a screw on attachment for car size valves which bends 90º so that you can pump it up as normal. I don't know however if KMX had a different idea when they designed this wheels, as to how you could inflate them.
But anyway problem solved and an idea if you're stuck with it a the moment or might be in the future.
All the best,
Allydoug

Valve stems breaking from tube.
Hi, does any one know why so many stems are breaking off form their tubes?
I have had many more flat tyres due to this than 'normal' punctures recently
. Maybe someone has a fix to stop this happening or to fix the broken ones. I think it was Mark Beaumont who said that if you attach the nut on the rim to hard then this often happens, so I have made sure this not too tight.
Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Re: Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting
Once again thank you for your contributions, I can now confirm that the inner's nipple came loose. I brought my bike to Leslie Bike shop in Glenrothes and got it fixed within a few hours, I can highly recommend this bike shop for those living in Fife (Scotland). There is now a new gear cable in. I'm glad that I brought it there because I would have spent 2 hours breaking the thing, they fixed it, with labour and a new cable - £15.
Very pleased, maybe next time I can give it a go!
Best wishes,
Allydoug.

Thanks for your thoughts, When I get it checked I will see what is wrong because they are tricky parts - I can't trust myself enough sadly!!!

Samuel D wrote:If when you pull an exposed section of the cable sideways it changes gear, that suggests to me the cable is fine (otherwise it would pull out from the shifter end, so it must be unbroken and firmly connected at the shifter).
The specifications show a 9-speed bike but you say yours is 8-speed. Check carefully before buying a replacement shifter.
Thanks Samuel, I agree the cable should be fine if it is new, I will go to the place I had it serviced tomorrow and get it fixed. I know just how difficult the shifters are to take apart so I for once will go to "an experienced bike mechanic".
Thanks anyway

Re: Drivers on Phones - What Can we do ?
It would be great if CTC would add the function on their Fill that hole app for Cars parked on pavements and drivers on phones. I cant believe people text whilst driving, but to be totally honest some idiotic cyclists are doing this too. Can't wait to get the batch of photos of mine sent of to councilors, msps, mps etc.

Re: Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting
I think the cable was replaced when I had it serviced last month so mabye I should just go back to the shop, but thanks anyway I'll give that a go with the WD40.

Shimano Sora rear shifter not shifting
Hi, I've had my Raleigh RX Elite for 3/4 year now and it is my perfect match. Sadly today whilst re setting the brakes (routine maintenance) the rear gears (8 speed) wouldn't shift. I think it might be something inside the shifter.
To clear things up it is only the gear function,(BRAKES ARE WORKING OK), I am currently stuck in 8th gear. By pulling the gear cable I can change gear so it is not the derailleur.
It is a cyclo cross bike.
2014 version
Shimano sora shifters and derailleur
Groupset
Shift Levers: Shimano Sora
Brake Levers: Shimano Sora
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Sora ss
Front Derailleur: Shimano Sora
Here are the complete specifications of the bike

I hope someone can help me fix this or has taken one of these apart before then your suggestions, directions etc. would be gratefully received,
Allydoug.

Moving house with a bike
Hi, Does any one have any good advice on how to move to the continent with a bike. My brother in september will have finished school and plans to work in Germany for a year. He plans on getting the Megabus from Edinburgh to Colonge (köln) and get the train from there to the south West (Stutgart area). He speaks fluent German so that isn't a problem but I was just wondering if you can post a bike, bring it on the ferry or even the Bus?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Re: Bottle dynamo placement. Am I mad?
I am hub dynamos all the way and would say the SON Deluxe is fab but if it can't fit with the axle then B&M isn't too far off.
