Re: Self righteous cameramen

Very interesting Vorpal and thank you. Seems the lines are tending to converge around 70 suggesting that differentials at that speed are not so significant. I am sure however that at 80 mph, reactions to the events on the road would need to be faster. So arguing for faster speed limits may need to t...

Re: Self righteous cameramen

So the debate, if I am right, which I am probably not, Includes: Cameras being used to trap the most subtle and inconsequential misdemeanours, leaving others unchallenged. Tackling bad habits by extra infrastructure rather than enforcement and education. prioritisation of speed enforcement away from...

Re: Self righteous cameramen

Ok I know all I want to know about high friction surfaces, but what the heck has this got to do with "self righteous cameramen" ?

Re: 4x4s Grr!

So what do we do about bad driving? Given that there seems to be clear agreement all over this forum that it is an increasing problem. I have felt that some members on other post threads are either blissfully unaware or in denial and there seems to be no appetite to actually do something. Is it that...

Re: Self righteous cameramen

Getting back to cameras and those who use them: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/crime/police-crackdown-on-close-pass-drivers-in-portsmouth-after-undercover-cyclist-operation-1-7906795 I think this is the most positive thing the Police have done for our safety in my living memory. This is not self r...

Re: Self righteous cameramen

At the risk of prolonging the post that you seem to have wished ended rick99, I do not go over 70 on the motorway. In fact I never go on motorways and my bike wont go that fast anyway. I gave up on cars when I realised they were harmful to the environment and caused pollution. That's my reason and I...

Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

These incidents were in my locality. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/crime/cyclists-attacked-in-linked-assaults-in-portsmouth-1-7904551 http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/our-region/fareham/white-van-man-punches-several-cyclists-on-countryside-road-near-wickham-1-7888483 We ARE being targeted. Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

Thank you 661-pete for your explanation. I see your latest reply as a mixture of critique and some relevant points outlined by the OP. How about a bit more of your independent view next time, perhaps we may find some common ground. I do not read the Daily Mail as I do not agree with the way they use...

Re: Self righteous cameramen

Frustrating as it is to be told by the traffic system to wait when I have to, I do. Cameras are a witness to potentially serious public order incidents, like road rage or the like. Showing the Police every single instance of carelessness would render me totally brain dead after a very short time. Ho...

Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

So 661-pete, what have you got to offer that to quote Bonefishblues, "stretches the parish boundaries". If all 661-pete can do is criticise without any real point in reply apart from "rubbish" I wonder what this individuals motives are. Maybe you think there's an element of truth...

Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

To Bonefishblues - What does it matter who I am, it's whether the message truly represents what needs to happen that is important. To thirdcrank - Lets work the message out and tell it to who needs to hear it. I wonder what CUK would say the message is or is supposed to be. I am not sure how to take...

Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

When people are suppressed, oppressed and left unheard this sort of thing is the ultimate result. We can expect much more of this as the resentment builds up on both sides. There is a war going on and it is about road space and who wins out will be determined by numbers. At the moment non car users ...

Re: Unwanted Ingestion of Flies

Quite so, NATURAL ANKLING the intake of flies to the wind pipe might have been headed Unwanted Inspiration.... as my original wording implied that the flies were being inhaled. So that bit of my description which involved breathing hard suggested I would inspire flies, rather than ingest them. The t...

Re: Unwanted Ingestion of Flies

Audax67 I was honouring the idea that the long term future of meat consumption may lay in arthropods, given they are more efficient to produce than say cattle. Having said that I would not like to be hit in the face by a steak.

Unwanted Ingestion of Flies

Am I the only one that suffers from suicidal flies aiming straight for my mouth. It always seems to happen when the warmer weather comes around and it is a real pain. They seem to purposely fly straight toward me especially when I am breathing hard. I have thought of wearing masks, but that would re...
