I'm pushing each training session to my FTP
I've been to the mountains in france an italy for the last 12 years and I feel the need to keep it going as I was seriously ill for 3 years 20+ years ago. It doesn't look like I'll get there again until 2022 when I'll be 68, so I have a lot of motivation to keep training now as letting it lapse may ...

how to get internet streaming films in my garage?
I am using the films on my tacx trainer indoors as my internet doesn't reach into my garage. Can anyone suggest how I make it reach into the garage? I guess that it will need to be a strong signal for streaming the films. The garage is a separate outside building and the internet would need to reach...

how accurate is tacx vortex?
I wonder how accurate this is? Two reasons. firstly the speed indication compared with my wired bike computer on rear wheel is wildly out and possibly worse at low speed eg 8 mph on trainer 14 mph on computer although sometimes readings are more in agreement, I think at higher speeds Secondly I have...

tacx training app do i need internet?
I'm having such a struggle with this, I really would love some help I used the old tacx cycling app with my vortex trainer, but it was changed to a newer tacx training app. With the old app i could download the films onto my tablet and cycle in the garage. (I've no interenet there) The android train...

Re: gps choices, can someone explain? please!
Great thanks. Much the same for others: maps are great up to a point but the gps is great to add in and avoid the stopping to look at the map. I've checked out the Mega XL looks a good choice

gps choices, can someone explain? please!
Having grown up with maps I've eschewed gps. Pro maps: you get a wide view and can see the terrain in context and easily pick out the quiet roads, can see what something in the distance is and I enjoy reading them. Having a lot of map practice I can use the contours to bring out a 3d view . also it ...

rack with integral slot for U lock
I remember seeing one a long time ago and as I'm looking for a replacement rack, I thought of this but I can't find one anywhere now. It was a standard rack except it could fix in a U lock when horizontal, underneath the carrier.
Seems a great idea but maybe it was never popular?

rhins of Galloway riding
We've booked up a treat at the Corsewall lighthouse hotel on the peninsula west of Stranraer. Love the idea of somewhere so remote. Looking on Street view they look marvellous roads for riding: flattish terrain, empty roads, beautiful scenery. Anyone got any recommendations? Guess it might be rather...

making helmet sponge replacement
Although I've had my Met helmet a long time it doesn't need replacing, it's just the foam/sponge bits that have gone flat. Just wondering if anyone has done something home-made as prices for the replacements are more than I am happy to pay for some bits of sponge.

Re: Thanks covid, getting a bit old how many more Alpine trips?
I'm not sure it's so much pejorative about electric bikes as I know people who have started cycling and appreciate getting out and about without getting hard into biking. It's more than when you've been up to doing tough things, dropping down to a leccy bike feels like the beginning of a downward sl...

Thanks covid, getting a bit old how many more Alpine trips?
i've turned 66 and have been to the Alps and Pyrenees for the last 12 years, but unlike being young when there's always next year, well I think my age means limited years to do it and covid has robbed me of a year which i can't get back. I really only ride for touring and this annual trip, and I can...

Honking on turbo, does it accelerate fitness?
For the first time I've been using Cyclego and it's structured work outs and it has sections for honking. This was awful at first but after 21 sessions of 25 mins in last 4 weeks it certainly feels like a quantum leap in getting stronger At first I was unable to do it for long long as I struggled to...

Re: do you staighten leg at 6 o'clock? chenging pedalling
Just checked seat height, heel on pedal leg nearly straight at 6 o'clock and with foot on pedal I need to dip my ankle at the bottom to fully straighten. I definitely am finding that I get less of burning thighs this way
