Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The Queen's speech. Made me feel sick to the stomach. And you have it from the mouth of the Queen herself, " new opportunities for the legal and financial sectors". They want a tax haven type economy. I guess there's little else left after ten years of mismanagement. Nothing about UK citiz...

Re: Chip and Pin question

Kwackers Think on...? Think on what? I am old I fear. Perhaps it's a colloquialism. Try to use your card but the pin isn't accepted, switch on the grey matter and realise you changed the pin (think on) so you enter the old pin and viola! As in a string orchestra starts to play! Voila! Just like tha...

Re: Chip and Pin question

Very interesting NA. Thanks. Makes sense. Still doesn't explain how all this works without being connected to a bank, or by using one of the little gadgets from Natwest I showed that verifies the Pin or how the bank can send you a new card with the existing Pin. PS, we don't have to go online and v...

Re: Chip and Pin question

The bank's system knows your PIN too. It must do. Encrypted form probably. When you make a payment "online" you are in "connection to the outside world. So some of what you have stated is not quite correct. I don't know about online banking card readers and their extra security. My gu...

Re: Chip and Pin question

Payment on a mobile device on an aircraft is an interesting one in this regard. Does the device record and store all transactions (for processing on landing) or does it use satellite connectivity? If there is no connectivity the PIN must be on the card in some form? It maybe that the PIN can be writ...

Re: What Not To Make Bike Frames Out Of

Hmm.
Seeing as (old, plastic much better than copperIMHO) plumbing materials have come up, how about lead piping? Very easy to bend and shape!
If it doesn't collapse on you it will drive you bonkers through long contact!

Now what does that remind me of?

Re: One solution to tailgating?

I cannot see that anyone has mentioned it but a pretty simple, effective safe and legal, method of making a tailgater fall back in dry or semi dry conditions is to wash your windscreen.

Moral of story "always keep the reservoir well topped up"!

The regs require you to install a bed in your spare room for the inspector.

If you have no spare room you must "shove over so they can share your bed" is the exact phrase from the directive.
