You can't make a good cake without gluten

Sachertorte?

Back on topic I consumed an entire jamaica ginger cake from the coop in Kirkby Stephen in a sitting yesterday, during the "Dales Delight" 200k audax. Highly recommended, both cake and audax.

Re: The Rebrand is Essential to our Future

they can employ lots more drones presumably? The reason for starting this thread was precisely because every discussion here is dominated by this kind of knee jerk conspiracy theory. There are pros and cons to the rebrand. An intelligent exposition of these would help the debate; "drones"...

Re: Podium Girls

Windbag,

Inconvenient to have to acknowledge the views of people who disagree with you,  isn't it?

So much easier just to dismiss them as not being "truthful and honest".

Re: The Rebrand is Essential to our Future

The juxtaposition of Even if you disagree with the sentiments of the final sentence above then the rest holds as fact. with the content of that post: Their current preoccupation is to get the last few years VAT back so they can fund salary packages for their new paid executives is, in my opinion at ...

Just voted to keep the rebrand and hope it contributes in a small way to CUK being a little more visible and higher impact, with more members.

Re: Podium Girls

Had to make do with scantily clad men then Brian ?

I did enjoy, and indeed reciprocate, some words of admiration from a couple of muscly chaps in skin tight lycra at the summit, as it happens.

One could say that we enjoyed brief but satisfying social intercourse.

Re: Podium Girls

I was also a bit surprised at the lack of reaction.[to Mary beard misogyny ] Given that we've been through the full spectrum of sexism here, up to and including making jokes about how many women it would be fun to sexually assault on public transport, I guess most people had already given up on rea...

Don't lay down a challenge, there's some competetive men on this forum...... I'm aiming for 5

Windbag, you're giving me the creeps. Not in a remotely amusing way.

Re: Podium Girls

, its as if some women are a magnet for perverted acts.... Yup, it's the victim's fault. Thought it might be. Seriously guys, you've been given example, after example, after example of sexist behaviour. Yet you still cannot accept the reality of womens' experiences. Perhaps you might reflect why yo...

Re: Podium Girls

I'd like freddie, windbag and the others who have claimed there is no harm in presenting women as the submissive possessions of men, or that sexism, is in fact just women being oversensitive,  to read this, by coincidence in today's paper: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/may/28/jessica-...

Re: Podium Girls

Jan, sorry you have to put with all that. And with the attitudes of some on here to it too. Just to add that this all falls on a spectrum, and it does seem to get really awful sometimes: Sexual assault in the saddle: why it sucks to be a woman cyclist sometimes It was the perfect ride in the Peak Di...

Re: Podium Girls

Argue honestly or not at all.

Freddie,

I'm done here. I've no dislike for you, and no wish to continue with you arguing in the way you are.

I'll let your words speak for themselves, to me they do so eloquently. Others are welcome to their opinions.

Re: Podium Girls

Windbag, rather than attack ridiculous scenarios no-one is proposing, you could acknowledge the facts. Which are that women face discrimination purely on the basis of their gender. That you seem to find it impossible to acknowledge this, even when it’s been proven in studies like the one I reference...

Re: Podium Girls

It's just you have fewer desired qualities than the man who got the job. Windbag, you're wrong. This can be tested for some occupations, it has been, and it reveals obvious discrimination. Blinding employee assessment for gender... ...has a powerful impact; researchers have determined that this ste...

Re: Podium Girls

Freddie, Bearing in mind that we’re talking here about a sports podium, which of the following women fall into a submissive or non competing role by their nature Beryl Burton? Victoria Pendleton? Serena Williams? Jess Varnish? And if you’ve actually read anything by Simon Baron Cohen, which I doubt,...
