Oh go on then why not?
Name: Chris
Age: 40s
Occupation: electronic engineer
Favourite colour: brushed titanium, though this is aspirational only!
Status: civil partnered
Bikes/cycling: road and touring, commuting, the odd audax or CTC challenge ride. Main bikes are a Giant SCR 2 and a Dawes Galaxy, the latter with a lighter set of wheels for summer commutes and audax, and the original bombproof but heavy wheels for the winter commute. I'm a late starter to cycling, having started about 5 years ago. Love it, and I commute 10 miles each way around 3 times a week. This has helped me lose weight and keep, erm, some of it off. I'm in the local club, Worcester St Johns CC, and I go out on the odd club ride. I also time trial, but more for the spirit of the thing and the training value, as I'm not fast and I favour endurance over outright speed. (In other words, I'm too slow to say otherwise!)
Interesting fact: That's me, hanging off the back!

Re: Magazine Survey.
I'd have thought an online survey would have got a larger response. It could be limited to CTC members by including a login step involving membership number. A postal-only survey seems a bit old fashioned and I doubt I'll get round to it, to be honest - whereas I could have done an online version in the time I've taken over logging on here and typing this.
So, online option next time please!

missing picture...
I seem to have messed up on the picture - newbie
So, a quick verbal description - the stem extension is anodised black aluminium and there are silver areas above the clamp bolt, which I thought might be caused by fatigue. Only two bolts clamp the bars on, so I was concerned in case the stem extension fractures on a ride.
Cheers

stem metal fatigue?
Hi all - can anyone advise me on my handlebar stem? There are some discoloured areas above the upper stem binder bolt, shown within the red circle in the attached photo. Could this be metal fatigue, or am I being paranoid? Should I replace the stem extension to be on the safe side - I don't fancy the bars coming off at speed...
