Re: Fred Whitton

It does seem excessive that it is closed to all other cyclists for 8.5 hours. Surely the bulk of FW'ers are cycling up it within a few hours. Hard Knott is around the 80 mile mark so the times between the first and last riders can vary greatly. Fast riders finish in just over 6hrs with slower rider...

Re: Fred Whitton

Avoiding the question of whether or not it's a good idea, is it legal, do they have the authority to prevent anyone walking or cycling up the road or is it only closed to motor vehicles. Similarly, if roads are closed for the marathon or other running event, do people who have not entered running o...

Re: Team Sky is now Team INEOS

Although I knew about Ineos, it hadn't struck me that the cyclists would be going through Yorkshire emblazoned with Ineos stickers and labels. It couldn't be much more in-your-face and insulting to the people of Yorkshire fighting Ineos' attempts to frack there. Riding roughshod is the phrase that ...

The organisers of the Fred Whitton Sportive have just posted on Social Media that any cyclists without an event number will not be allowed on Hard Knott pass. That section of road is officially closed to motor vehicles for the event this year but not allowing cyclists who haven't paid to ride seems t...

Re: Team Sky is now Team INEOS

Saw the head fracker on TV and he was not being 100% truthful about what fracking is (most sources discuss the questionable chemicals injected into the ground whilst Head Greenwasher was claiming it’s just injecting water!). Ian Can you prove it’s not just water? “Most” sources are probably just cl...

Stopping/cutting down on motoring journeys will not make anything other than a small dent in the problem  Why is the focus always on the motorist?Boils my urine. Re: Static exercise bikes and virtual displays - some questions!

Get a real bike!! If you spend all day in front of a computer screen, why on earth would you want to do it on a bike?? ^^^^This with bells on! The roads in my area are terrible, filled with potholes. The traffic is awful. That pretty much describes most of the UK  You don't have to travel far ...

It isn't just about the right recycling bin. It's cutting the waste in the first place. Dump the plastic back with the supermarket: if we all did that they'd get the message. Isn't knowing how to behave but not doing so itself hypocrisy ? Not at all when you know that knowing how to behave will ach...

Re: ...who buys this stuff?

In a similar vein I have a colleague who leaves a cycling magazine open at ludicrously priced £300 cycling shoes so that their 'financial controller' thinks the £90 Shimanos they've really got in mind are good value! Thinking about it, that's probably the real reason we need £10k bikes as they make...
