Re: I’ve gotten old and slow it seems

I did my last 100 in July 18 having ridden no more than 50 miles on any one ride in the months previous. It was a warm day,27C/81F,I was in a group and we did the first 50 far too quickly for me.Selby-Hormsea we averaged 18.5mph :( It is flattish but I knew I couldn't maintain that on the return.I t...

Re: Happy Brexit Day.

A racist ‘Brexit Day’ poster demanding that residents speak the “Queen’s English” has been posted on “every floor” of a Norwich tower block. The poster celebrates the return of “our great country”, and goes onto explain “one rule that needs to be made clear” – speaking English within the tower. The...

Re: Pescription Sunglasses

Hi, I really do miss wearing a pair of wrap round sunglasses but sadly they're no longer suitable for my eyes as I need varifocals, which for some reason, cannot be done on a wrap round framed glasses. Do you need varifocals for cycling? I've worn varifocals for decades, but the glasses I wear for ...

Quite easy really:-
Vision Express
Oakley frames £199-260
Ultra-thin varifocal lenses with all coatings....anything up to £400+.
My last pair were £639!!!!
So £199 for Varifocal/Transitions Sun/riding glasses is a no-brainer!

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

And can someone tell me what day our bright future is being delivered? And what time was the sunshine being switched on? Presumably the NHS gets its first cheque for £350m on Friday. As soon as Boris and Co negotiate all our brilliant new trade deals....you know those that they haven't been able to...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

At least when I go to fill up the car this morning(I've been holding off for today) the ruthless EU imposed minimum Duty on fuel should have disappeared so I'm assuming my Diesel will be about 20p a litre cheaper?

Re: Pescription Sunglasses

Optilabs. Been using them for 10+ years. I now need variofocals and I got mine on offer for £199 IIRC. I would not even consider wearing my day specs on the bike as they were over £600! These are my current(will need to replace this year as they're 4 years old in June) https://live.staticflickr.com...

Re: Phantom crossing button pusher - evidence of car centricity?

Having to wait for a big gap is not really how zebra crossings are meant to be used. It's sickening if that is now what's regarded as "sensibly". " Sickening ". Really? That's a typical overreaction I've talked about on other topics. Sickening  I can think of maybe a few t...

Re: My objection to Gift Aid

Saturday normally paid at time and a half and Sunday double time. What decade are you living in? Anyone still lucky enough to be on those terms will most likely be in a heavily unionised industry (Remember those?) Far more usual now to have a single Unsocial Hours premium rate and I've seen those a...
