I came up behind a pedestrian on a shared path this morning. She was over to her right but carrying an umbrella which was wider than the path. I slowed right down and gave a warning "ding" on the bell. She responded by moving to the exact centre of the path. Possibly just oblivious but it ...

We know that, but local police don't always... Plus it looks unusual and motorists find it inconvenient, so it "should" be illegal.

I've completed it (at 44 I'm just about allowed to), but I don't think I'll be a very good data point. It's all about exercise motivation and my motivation for cycling is almost entirely transportation. That question wasn't asked.
